My daughter was given this set for her 5th birthday from a friend and it provided a lovely, enjoyable, afternoon’s worth of craft work. You actually got two sets of plaster so could use the moulds again, but we got a bit over enthusiastic with the paints and used them all up in one sitting. We made some pretty magnets which are still on our fridge now: durable and good quality. Lovely glittery paints, great present to take to birthday parties or to keep in your rainy day cupboard.

Bought a few of these kits to give as gifts and they have been well received. My five year old daughter and I tried doing this one and it worked really well. You can only make half at a time so the whole thing can be spread over a day or two and we both enjoyed it. Only down side is that the magnets have started to detach from the plaster and so they keep dropping off the fridge but the plaster hasn’t broken so a bit of superglue may be required to stick them back on. As educational as you want to make it – depends how much you know (or want to impart) about the chemistry of plaster and the biology of the flora and fauna you’re making. Good for fine motor skills.
