The Doctor and the Kid: A Weird West Tale

Posted by Notcot on Oct 27, 2012 in Steampunk
The Doctor and the Kid: A Weird West Tale

This is the rip-roaring steampunk sequel to popular “The Buntline Special”, filled with adventure, excitement, and more than a little gun-slinging action! The time is 1882. With the Gunfight at the O.K. Corral behind him, the consumptive Doc Holliday makes his way to Deadwood, Colorado, where he plans to spend the rest of his short life. But one night he gets a little too drunk and loses everything at the gaming table. He realizes that he needs to replenish his bankroll, and quick, so that he can live out his days in comfort. He considers his options and hits upon the one most likely to produce income in a hurry: he’ll use his shooting skills to turn bounty hunter. The biggest reward is for the death of the young desperado known as Billy the Kid. It’s clear from the odds the Kid has faced and beaten, that he is protected by some powerful magic. Doc enlists the aid of both magic (Geronimo) and science (Thomas Edison), and goes out after his quarry. But as he soon finds out, nothing is as easy as it looks.

Floatation Experience

Floatation Experience

Floatation Experience Feel your tension drift away with this floatation therapy session. Everyone knows how easy it is to float in the Dead Sea. Floatation is the best method of attaining the deepest rest that is humanly possible to experience. It consists of floating for an hour or more in a 10″ deep solution of Epsom salts, in a specially designed tank or room that eliminates all outside distractions. The solution is constantly maintained at the average body temperature of 98.4 degrees. The buoyancy of the salts solution allows your body to be supported on the surface of the water, giving the impression of zero gravity. The floating experience is not just an alternative form of rest; it creates a depth of relaxation not found in any other form of therapy. Even after just a few minutes of floating, you feel the wonderful effects. An hour long session is enough to emerge refreshed physically and mentally. Your session will be in a private lockable room equipped with a shower. The door and lighting can be controlled from inside the tank or room.   About The Floatation Experience When can you go? The X Files: I Want To Believe (1 Disc Edition with Exclusive Free X Files Poster) [DVD]

Posted by Notcot on Feb 19, 2011 in Cult Film

The feature film The X-Files: I Want to Believe is a satisfying if unspectacular installment in the X-Files series, taking place an unspecified time after the show’s nine-year television run. Former agent Dana Scully (Gillian Anderson) is now a doctor, while Fox Mulder (David Duchovny) is being hunted by his former agency and living in seclusion. He and Scully are summoned back by a case involving a missing agent and a former priest (Billy Connolly) who claims to be able to see clues to the agent’s whereabouts psychically, though his initial search turns up only a severed limb.

Don’t expect the usual cast of characters; the FBI has completely turned over (except for the George W. Bush portrait), and the only reason Scully and Mulder are back is because agent Dakota Whitney (Amanda Peet) remembers his success on similar cases involving the inexplicable. Don’t expect the same rogues’ gallery either; unlike the previous X-Files feature film, which was inextricably linked to the series’ convoluted mythology arc (and served as a bridge between the fifth and sixth seasons), I Want to Believe is a stand-alone piece that makes use of the series’ roots in horror/sci-fi and moody Vancouver, B.C., locales. Also unlike the previous film, which was almost self-consciously shot for the big screen, this film is on a smaller scale, like a double-length episode of the series. But it’s still a good reminder of the creepy vibe that hooked fans for years. And the relationship between Mulder and Scully? It seems to have resumed pretty much where it left off, at least when you take into account the long period of separation. But stick around for the end-credit sequence to take in all the possibilities for the future. –David Horiuchi, Amazon.com
