My surround sound system only has 1 optical input so this is perfect for what I needed. I have my Sky+ box and PS3 plugged into this and it works perfectly. I have tested putting Dolby Digital and DTS through this and it transfers them perfectly, my surround system confirmed it was receiving DD or DTS from Sky+/ PS3.

I couldn’t work out how to turn the selector to start with, you just have to push the end it on the switch so you can turn it :-)

this item works fine for me although it is much larger than you’d expect from the photo. its about the 6″ (150mm) across. ive got it connected to my ps3 skyHD through to my 5.1 sound system. a little tip, inside this unit there is just a bit of optical cable in a curve thats why the inputs are in a semi circle arrangement. looking at the photo the input/output (common) is on the left. therefore you want to use the opposite connections the right first, working back to left with the equipment you use less frequently. that way you are putting the least amount of bend in the cable inside and improving the service life of the switch.

finally the switch has a button either side that you squeeze with your thumb and forefinger when you switch between connections (cant see it on photo but its obvious when you see it). this retracts the cable inside alowing you to move to next position. i would’nt be suprised if some people dont do this and snap the end off inside and then complain thats it doesnt work

I bought this product from West Sussex Trading and it works perfectly. Have a sony amp with only one optical in but the DVD and Sky HD both have opticals so when I want to watch a DVD I always had to swap leads which was awkward and a pain. Set this bad boy up yesterday and with the flick of a switch it flicks between them perfectly with no loss of sound clarity whatsoever.

One note – you need a spare optical lead to run from your amp etc into the switch as well as the ones running from your DVD etc into it.

At this price I heartily reccomend this product.

After ordering this item and perhaps foolishly then reading some of the reviews in greater depth I noticed that some customers had experienced problems.

Still for less than a fiver all in I thought what the hell.

Having now recieved the product within the laid out time scales I have found no such problems and rate the item 5 stars to balance the overall ratings.

I run my Sky HD, Xbox and Sony BD 360 (blu ray) through this switch into the 1 optical input on my Pioneer VSX 516 amp. I use cheap optical leads(about a quid each) and it works perfectly.

Thank you
