Really enjoyed playing Alan Wake. It almost instantly reminded me of a tv series/short film which at first I was put off it but then I got used to it and I think it is all part of the build-up and anticipation of the style and type of game it is. At first the character controls are a bit tricky but then you get the hang of it and off you go! Graphic wise I think its quite good although there are still some odd rendering happening every now and again, although this adds to the nature of the game. I do think the element of surprise and mystery makes this one of the best games out at the moment. People will always have mixed reviews due to the fact that this is not an ordinary shooter or adventure game. It definitely has got a chill factor to it. Highly recommended!

I decided to wait until now to review this game, due to the extra episodes that are now available for purchase.

Without a doubt, this game is this years ‘diamond in the rough’. After waiting so long for this game, I was pleased at it’s arrival.

The story of this game is probably one of the best I’ve played in a long time. After the amazing plots of GTA IV, BioShock and Assassin’s Creed I & II, I really didn’t think story telling in this medium could get any better. What makes it even better is the atmosphere, the dialogue of the characters and of course, the setting of Bright Falls.

A lot was cut and changed around from the earlier previews of the game, but nevertheless, each chapter of the game kept me wanting to play more until the very end. The twists and turns, the characters fates, all lead up to a satisfying ending.

Graphically, the game is stunning; especially on a massive screen. The details, the lighting are all there. At times, it’s better to watch than to play. The soundtrack has moved into my top 10 game soundtracks of all time. From the original music to the licensed themes from Poets of the Fall and David Bowie, it’s beautiful.

My only disappointment was this; the gameplay began to turn sour after a few hours, but it managed to be variable, despite repetitive. Collectables were fun, despite backtrackking :/ Enemies became annoying, but becoming closed in with only few supplies was a challenge, especially on Nightmare mode.

However, if you want the true ending, the DLC rounds up the game nicely. And don’t worry if you don’t bother, Remedy has confirmed that the extra episodes don’t have to be played for the soon-to-be-announced sequel!

Among the generic repetitive shooter genre of todays market, this is something different to consider.

Title says it all. Sadly coming out at the same time as Red Dead redemption means a lot of people missed this game.

Great Story, Great Gameplay, Great graphics and sound all make up for a great game.
