And it does it very well for the price.

There are people on here undoubtedly, who wuill tell you that you should by a platinum plated, marmot-skinned limited edition Bose cable made by a remote order of Outer-hebridean nuns who only produce three per year on the feast of Beltain, but to be honest I don’t see why.

Instructions: Take it out of packet.

Plug one end in somewhere.

Plug the other end in elsewhere and tighten with twiddly bit.

Throw packet away.

This cable does exactly what it says it will i.e. connect a device with a DVI female port to an HDMI female port. I used mine to connect my laptop to the television but I had to use an adapter to make the DVI connector compatible with my laptop port, so be sure to check your port sizes.

It’s hard to review a cable as I’m sure you’ll be able to understand, but when you can get exactly what you need, at this price, from a company you can trust, you can’t really go wrong.

Usually with a cable of this quality I’d expect to write a fair bit about how it warrants it’s price (the truly fantastic HD quality, the dual shielding) but in this case the price is low enough for you to buy it no matter what. Just expect to be pleasantly surprised!

It is quite a relief to discover that Amazon can supply the `haberdashery’ of electronics as well as major kit because I usually end up on a trek to a specialist shop. It was also pleasing to note that the Basics range has a premium feel (robust branded glove to the connectors, gold finish on the metal and black cable). True, it is only a cable but attention to detail gives reassurance about underlying quality.

On which note, yes it works fine in connecting the HDMI out on my PC (which has only one DVI out) to a second DVI monitor. If you are considering adding a second monitor to your PC, a week in to discovering the pleasure of having a two monitor set up it is difficult to imagine how I managed before. Amazon seem to have most of the permutations of cable needed if you find as I did that you are short of a connection.

I got this cable for my boyfriend, who’s a bit of an IT buff. He uses it to connect his Xbox 360 to his HD TV and says that it gives an excellent picture, clear and sharp, however be aware that you won’t get sound with this cable, as it isn’t designed for it, which he didn’t realise until he got it and plugged it in!
