Let’s be honest, SCART is old hat. SCART is what you used to connect your VHS to your 4:3 14” TV back in the 90s. I’ve had a gold-plated SCART cable connecting my DVD player to my HDTV for a while now and these RGB component cables are an improvement. The SCART cable was very stiff and positioning the DVD player beneath the TV became very restrictive and difficult. These cables are long and bendy and will give you a lot of room to play about with. I’d go for these and leave SCART to nostalgia. Short of HDMI it’s the best you can get for picture quality on your TV.

Another in the Amazon own brand of interconnects. Like the others, its well made but with a cost that’s hardly ‘basic’.

To be fair, the quality isn’t basic either and the price is fair. Its a good length and seems well put trogether.

Looks good too, with the now standard Amazon logo.

Only question is, who would buy this cable? All modern equipment uses HDI connections as they are of a much higher standard than component video cables.

Sure, older kit might benefit from this cable but its probably too expensive to use with yesterday’s TV and people who know enough to see the value in using expensive cables have surely got HDI kit?

Only other thing to say, is yet again the amount of cardboard used to pack this cable is a scandal. Amazon really do need to address this issue with some urgency.

So, good product, good value for money if your kit is up to standard and doesn’t have an HDI connection.

The Amazon Basics range is new to me, and so far I am very impressed with it. This is my second cable from the range and I have no complaints. The components feel like they of a decent quality, the packaging is a nice little fuss free cardboard box that I can recycle (without the endless bits of plastic I often have to snip through with a new cable), 6 foot is plenty to play with and the price seems good to me. If you are in the market for a new component cable you can’t go far wrong with this one.

I have an older DVD player which predates the use of HDMI interfaces. However, it does have connections for a component cable, which I’ve never previously used.

Until now I’ve been using a standard interconnect cable (albeit it a mid-high end one) to interface with my HD plasma screen and the performance has been very good. I must however report that using this cable sharpened both picture and sound quality. Of course this may just be wish fulfilment or simply imagination on my part, but although I can’t back it up with laboratory data, I’m willing to bet it has made a measurable difference.

Amazon seem to be producing an excellent `basic’ range of interface cables at very competitive prices. This is the second such type I’ve used and I’m happy to recommend them to anyone who doesn’t want to break the bank in order to get good results.

The `frustration-free packaging’ (basically this involves simply lifting the cable from the box it’s delivered in) also cuts down on the use of unnecessary card and plastic bubble and whatever else, and in these `green’ times that’s a laudable achievement.

Very high quality video cable, good length, feels strong and durable, perfect picture quality, a very good basic range, excellent price, does the job, nothing more i can say really, if you’re looking for a good cable, you’ve found it! Th frustration free packaging is good, no plastic to try and cut out, it’s in a cardboard box you just open so that saves reaching for the scissors! Highly recommended.
