The Amazon Basics netbook case is a fairly simple neoprene pouch with a zip closure across the top. There are two carry handles, and an oddly-shaped side pocket which is accessed by a slightly unusual vertical zip.

The orange lining is a bit garish, and the “Amazon Basics” logo on the zip pulls is rather unsubtle. On mine, the side zip was protruding slightly into the path of the main zip, causing the main zip to jam, but a few seconds work with a pair of wire cutters fixed this.

The neoprene provides adequate protection against minor bumps and knocks, and the case looks like it will be at least shower-resistant if you get caught in the rain.

Size-wise, it seems a bit big for a netbook case. My original ASUS EEE 900 (with a 9″ screen) is a very loose fit – my iPad fits comfortably inside, again with a lot of free space. The spec for the case says it fits up to 10″ screens, but the case measures over 12″ on the diagonal, and is fairly stretchy, so I’d guess an 11″ netbook (if such a thing exists…) will fit it better than a 9″ or 10″ machine.

To be honest, this isn’t much more useful than the free case that came with my EEE, but if your netbook didn’t include a case, this is a reasonably-priced solution to give it a bit of protection.

Oh, and one more comment on Amazon’s much-vaunted no-frills packaging. This came inside a plastic bag, inside a cardboard box, packed inside yet another cardboard box swathed in brown paper. Given the utterly non-fragile nature of the product, this seems like gratuitous waste to me…

The laptop case is made of a really nice material and this is probably the best thing to note about it. It has a really nice velvety feel.

The handles on the top are ok but I can’t see too many men carrying it around like this. The zips have a really nice feel as well. It doesn’t bother me too much that they have Amazon basics on them but it might be offputting to some.

It also has a pretty good sized front pocket where you can put the charger for example. The interior of the case is a nice bright orange which I think looks pretty good aggainst the black of the case.

The case is a good size and is a little more substantial than your average slip case. You can carry it around without having to put it in a larger bag if you want to, but it will be obvious you’re carrying a laptop and this may be a security risk for you if you’re going on trains for example.

Overall a really nice case but perhaps a little let down by the handles and “Amazon basics” zips.

Described as part of the Amazon ‘basics’ range but this is not a ‘value’ product. It is well made and offers good protection. Attractive and convenient in use. Perhaps the basic element is that the only extra is a simple zipped pocket on one side of the case. I like it very much. Used with a standard Acer netbook. Recommended.

This Amazon Basics netbook case is a simple padded pouch with a zip closure across the top & carry handles. Looks sleek & clean.

It has orange lining which is not really to my taste but I guess no one else sees that except me.

The neoprene provides some protection against minor knocks but it is not thick or padded enough to protect your netbook from a drop. I would suggest that it is fine if you want to store a netbook in a larger case or carry bag but on it’s own, it is simply not enough protection for an item you likely parted with hundreds of pounds for. I don’t think it is waterproof but looks like it will be perhaps shower-resistant – another reason to use in another additional bag.

So, if your netbook didn’t include a case when you purchased it, this is a reasonably-priced solution to give it a bit of protection. Just don’t bank on being able to toss it over your shoulder in the front seat of the car or expect it to bounce harmlessly if you drop it in the street.

As for the no-frills packaging, well I don’t really get that. All it needed was a soft pollybag to send it to me in as there are no hard parts to protect. However, it was sent in TWO cardboard boxes ? Not very green of you Amazon is it ? Multiple protection for a case that gives limited protection to your netbook. I think you need to review the ‘basics’ messaging.

Still, a decent buy for the money. For the price this is still a worthy purchase. I like it & I am using it.

The amazon basics neoprene netbook bag is an excellent bag for the iPad.

The bag is made from a thick cushioning neoprene, the outside is black the inside amazon orange. The zippers have large glove friendly rubber tags on them branded amazon basics, the inside of the zips have zip protectors to stop it from scratching your computer. There are two soft handles for carrying it around – though they fold back nicely so you can ignore them or cut the. There is a handy second pocket on the outside which can hold your ipad charger, headphones and usb cable or another small accessory. Compared to an apple branded bag or many other ipad cases the amazon basics bag gives you lots of protection and is excellent value.
