This is a very simple item which is designed to give you an extension to your USB cables. I use a wheelchair and my base unit is close to the floor and I cannot reach down that low to plug my ipod and camera in, so this has been a lifesaver and has prevented me from having to bend down. So many products come with short USB cables and this fixes that problem without slowing down the connection.

This is well made and looks like it will stand the test of time. I am VERY pleased with my lead and recommend it to anyone who is struggling with the ever increasing number of products with ridiculously short cables!

This is an excellent quality cable, which functions perfectly, and has a nice design (black with the amazon logo in orange). Amazon Basics is a welcome range of high quality, reasonably priced computing basics and essentials which deserves to be very popular.

Just one criticism, not about the product itself but about the packaging. Frustration free packaging it may well be, but it’s incredibly wasteful and has a huge carbon footprint. My cable, which measures 100cm long by 0.50cm thick, (and can be coiled around a little and fixed with an elastic band without damage) was delivered in a very large box, so large it came by parcel force van. When I saw the box I thought it was a huge encyclopaedia inside! Inside this large box was another, almost as large, box which contained the cable. I’m sure my little cable would have fitted perfectly into a jiffy bag, saving packaging and also fitting through my letterbox rather than being treated as a large package! If amazon sort out the issue of wasteful packaging, they have a perfect, truly award worthy range of high quality, affordable computing basics. Just make the packaging a bit more basic, too!

This cable is neat, and does the job, feels well made and durable.

Although the packaging is definitely frustration free as advertised – it’s very easy to open, and the box can be recycled, the frustration is more likely to come from having to go to your local Post office to pick it up, as there is no way the box will fit through a standard size letterbox.

I’m also not quite sure why it’s almost double the price of other leads of the same specification.

In summary, good lead if you want a good quality USB2 extension cable, but might be worth shopping around.

I mean, seriously, what’s to say? It’s a cable. It does what it says it will. It’s a long cable, which helps. The thing seems well designed, in that I’ve seen no problem with it, but what would I know? I’m reviewing it only because I need to keep my Vine reviews up to 75% of products, which I’d guess is why it has garnered so many reviews… As for the packaging, I guess this is important to people who have difficulty getting packaging open; since I’m not one of them I am not equipped to judge, but I had no bother. At least it wasn’t ridiculously and wastefully over-packaged as so many things are these days.

I’ve used this to stretch a USB webcam across the room, and I have to say it’s done the job perfectly – a good, reliable connection and the cable itself feels sturdy and long-lasting too. I’d definitely buy AmazonBasics in the future, as it seems like a good, no-nonsense brand which does the job effectively without the unnecessary frills and at a good price.

What other reviewers say about the packaging is true in part, although it’s much easier for me to recycle the cardboard box it came in, rather than a cellophane package, which would have to go straight in my bin. So for that reason, I think it wins on packaging too!
