Well of course it works fine but it really annoys me that I’ve had to buy an entire replacement unit after three years just because the flex is so weak. Countless other users have complained about this to Apple. It’s shameful that an otherwise perfectly serviceable piece of equipment is going to landfill due to a poorly designed cable. What’s more, the new one is exactly the same. So I expect I’ll be doing this all over again in 2011.

I got a MacBook Pro three years ago. I’m now on my third replacement magsafe. Same problem each time – cord either burns out or breaks just where it connects to the computer. Last time I took special care not to strain it and still only got over a year out of it. Bad show Apple – fix this please!!!

First suprise was that this is a third party charger not an official apple one, but it seems to work just as well as the offical one. Its not exactly the same size, and so is slightly ill fitting on my original extension lead but it works well and is safe. Hopefully itll last too!

Absolute piece of pap.

Bascially my partner splashed out treated herself a new Macbook Pro, she’s currently working away in a remote location, and the whole thing stopped working. She thought the computer had broken but eventually realised it was the charging unit. Read up on it and it seems these things keep packing in after a year or two. Hugely annoying, especially as you don’t half pay for Apple products. Moreover, Apple are funny about replacing them when they’re clearly sub-standard. No choice but to buy her a new one and post it down. Only now can she use her computer again. Bad show.

Ps – it’s nothing to do with strange peaky electicity supplies down there as normal laptops/charging units keep working fine.
