PLEASE NOTE :: ” Mini DVI ” is NOT the same as ” Mini DisplayPort ” !!! :::: Its is extremely common for folks to buy the wrong adapter and need to return or exchange despite the *** warnings *** in the product info above (I guess folks read reviews more than product info) … so please read the following info and also the product info as it may help !!!

As it says in the product description ::: This Mini DVI adapter is for Apple Macs that have a ” Mini DVI ” port for video out. This includes many (slightly) older Macs such as the MacBook and MacBook Pro and AIR ( UP TO LATE 2008 ).

Most newer Macs (such as the iMac, Unibody MacBook, MacBook Pro and Air from late 2008 onwards) have a new and different port called ” Mini DISPLAYPORT ” and this is NOT the same as ” Mini DVI ” … and will not fit.

You can see a close up picture of the actual ports and adapter connection in the ‘other’ images at the top of the product listing :::: If you have a newer Mac and require the Neet ” Mini DisplayPort to HDMI adapter ” it can be found here :: Apple Mini DisplayPort to HDMI adapter cable by Neet® – ( for New Unibody MacBook – Pro – Air – iMac etc. )

There are also a couple of other, less common adapters that Apple used briefly… one is called “Mini VGA” (found on older Macs) and another is called ” Micro DVI ” (found on the MacBook Air for one year only) … these are far less common but still get confused. ( Even Apple can give the wrong advise (eg: telling customers that Mini VGA is Mini DVI but an older version so folks go looking for an older Mini DVI which does not exist ))

The bottom line is to be sure and check your port before buying … and if in any doubt, please contact Neet Cables via ‘ contact seller ‘ on Amazon.

This Neet Mini DVI to HDMI adapter is plug & play, works very well and will be dispatched quickly with fast and friendly email customer support from Neet if needed … but please check that you are buying the correct adapter first !

( Please kindly note ::: I work on customer support at Neet Cables and AMAZON suggested that this information be left as a ‘review’ due to excessive returns / exchanges as a result of folks buying the wrong adapter … folks clearly read reviews more than the product info (which is very limited in characters anyway) so hopefully this will help save a lot of time and wasted postage costs for us all ! … If you think it is helpful , please mark it as ‘ helpful ‘ so it stays at the top and will be seen… many thanks :)

Excellent seller, excellent cables. Would highly recommend to anyone. The HDMI cable I purchased (Neet® Black Line – 1m – HDMI to HDMI Cable – HIGH-SPEED – v1.3 Category 2 – 24k Gold Plated – 1080p 1440p 1600p Full HD – ADVANCED HDMI LEAD)

and this cable worked perfectly together; I was able to use my Macbook to watch BBC HD from iplayer and enjoy it in its full glory on my 1080p HD screen. The difference was clearly noticablee (Note that a separate audio cable from the headphone socket of the Macbook to the back of the TV was required for audio, as mini-DVI does not, by design, transmit sound.) The free cloth they sent me was an excellent bonus as well. All in all, shopping with Neet Cables was a wonderful experience!

Bought this to use with a MacBook Early 2009 on my new 1080p LCD TV, and it works an absolute treat. The colours are much more vibrant over HDMI than the D-Sub VGA connection, and it was dead simple to set up. Mac OS X detects the television and it’s supported display modes automatically, showing 480p, 720p, 1080i and 1080p as resolution options, and I’ve been very impressed with it since.

works perfectly for the macbook. i have an 13″ black macbook (old one) and can now connect the mini-DVI port to HDMI and watch movies on my LCD TV. One good thing, it cheap to buy over here than in mac shop.
