OK, well to be honest, for the price i wasn’t expecting much. I expected something weak and flimsy. Does the job but nothing special.
So I was actually very pleasantly surprised when this arrived. Charger was packaged separately to mount. I cannot see myself having the issue the previous reviewer had with the lighter socket. If anything it was too tight. Maybe they have changed the charger since his purchase.
It appears this isn’t very well listed. In the box there is also an adhesive mount and a vent mount. Its nice to get unexpected extras.
The main Holder is good. Although the plastic looks cheap it feels pretty strong. There is a slide out photo frame at the back which again is a nice touch.
The suction mount is very. good. The suction held as strong a tug as i felt safe to give it without damaging the windscreen. Th mount does vibrate alot if you have the arm straight, but as my dash is small i have found with it bent its absolutely fine
The adhesive mount wouldn’t stick to my dash (its called a dash mount on the box), Yet when i stuck it to my window to test another surface, i had trouble getting the thing off. I expect is your dash is smooth it would be ok.
I didn’t try the vent mount although it looks pretty adjustable.
Now there are two reasons i haven’t given this 5 stars. The listing claims its suitable for ipod touch. Well Its not, at least not for 3rd gen. The foam pads on the side don’t come down far enough and the ipod slips below one of them I stuck some adhesive foam on the back (underneath where the device sits) which immediately solved this. Lost the photo frame but that doesn’t bother me. If you’re not up for a little modification and you have a touch not in a case then this is probably not for you.
Secondly I managed to break it. My car is pretty small (1L corsa) and the arm is pretty long and quite tough. Needs alot of force to bend it. I stupidly tried to adjust it while attached to the windscreen and was forcing it at an odd angle. The joint between the arm and the holder snapped. This was completely my fault, way too much force for cheap plastic. Fixed with poly cement (was amazed how strong a bond this formed), and only downside is now im stuck with the suction mount. Again not bothered as i didnt know it came with others before i bought.
I would highly recommend to anyone on a budget, just dont treat like its made from solid steel.

This product is surprisingly good for the price. Of course it feels ‘plasticy’ because it’s made of plastic. However it sticks to the windscreen well and is able to grip the i phone even when it is in a protective rubber skin which is what I really wanted. The way I have it set up the flexible arm is out straight and it does sag under the weight of the i phone. I have arranged it so that it sags onto the dashboard. The real reason that I did not rate the product better is that the car charger won’t stay in my cigarette lighter socket without me wedging it but it might be fine in other sockets. All in all worth a punt for the price.

Didnt last long – the suction mechanism broke on mine & is now useless, I had to superglue the thing together to make it work in the first place and when it did work, it wobbled a lot.
Just ordered the Navitech one, hope its better – Navitech Car Windscreen Suction Cup Mount Holder for the Apple iPhone 3G & 3GS Great for use with the new Apple iPhone Tomtom Maps App, with Dash Disc
