Bought the product after reading numerous reviews of different NAS devices. Does the job well. Configuration was easy (I am a network engineer by trade so could be misleading).

Media sharing works well, my PS3 picked up the share with no trouble. The NAS Navigator software is handy allowing the NAS to shutdown and bootup with your PC/Laptop. It would be nice for them to come up with some way of allowing this to be installed onto the PS3 or other console as well, to allow the same function. Runs very quietly in the background.

Speed of transfer is acceptable (as a low volume user). I found connecting the NAS device directly to my laptop for the large transfers of exisitng data eg. itunes, movies, etc from my current storage to the NAS was the quickest method. Media streaming is ok but I’d recommend increasing the cache of whatever media player your using.

All in all a good product. Only downside is it occasionally needs a ‘wake-up’ from the NAS navigator software.

I decided to get this NAS device for my birthday to compliment a Sonos music streaming system which I was lucky enough to get as a christmas present from the wife. After reading many reviews this was on balance my preferred choice over the competition (but only after I had clarified that it was compatible with Windows 7 which I could well find myself upgrading to in the next 12 to 18 months). I’m not very computer literate but I’m learning more all the time and I’m therefore always careful about reading the user manuals first or as I go along, otherwise I end up pushing the wrong buttons and getting myself in trouble. I have only used this device for 3 days, so I’ll give an update in a few months, but so far,so good. The interface is pretty user friendly and simple to follow. I very quickly got the device set up on the network and had I-tunes working through my Sonos without having the Desktop PC switched on. I easily managed to set up shared files and changed the admin password etc…

I have managed to transfer files across from the desktop and the laptop and can stream video to the laptop (which can be plugged into the downstairs television). I’ve not bothered to set up user groups or multiple users with access resrictions because I don’t really have the need to at the moment. I’m pleased with the physical dimensions of the unit (smaller than I expected from the pics) and it’s pretty quiet (but certainly not silent), although noise levels are not too inportant because it is situated in the upstairs study. The auto shutdown /start up works, but only via the desktop at the moment. You also need to give it a few minutes to reboot and to go through any refreshes.

I have not managed to web access yet but this is probably down to my ineptness at the moment so I’m sure this will be sorted when I have another go. First impressions are very good and it certainly promises to satisfy my requirements from a NAS.

A very easy to use and useful product. It’s the Memeo software which is bundled with it which does the trick for me.

Recieved the item from Avides Media via Amazon; initial perception was good and it was relatively easy to set-up. After taking hours to migrate all my existing files (500GB) to the system it start to show signs of failing. Eventually today I recieved a fatal error message that the hard drive could not be mounted. Appriciate that things do fail but this is very dissappointing!!
