had some issues setting up the wireless on my Mac,

but after downloading the latest drivers from the Canon website – it picked it up straight away.

that was my only frustration & i am so glad it was resolved so easily without the need for cables.

having used the printer for a week,

its great!

photo printing is superb.

document printing – the double sided option is wonderful.

its neat & tidy plus it looks & feels well made,

not like its gonna fall to pieces while printing.

as you can tell i am very pleased with this product,

i spent a good 2 months looking for the perfect printer (wireless preferred) & this is the best of the bunch.

spend the extra – you won’t be disappointed.

I’m very impressed – it was easy to set up, everything works as it should, the software is good and the photo quality is excellent. Printing on CDs and DVDs is a little fiddly, but that’s the worst I can say. It’s worth paying a little more for the overall quality, networking and duplexing: I’ve had a look at some of the cheaper devices, and they’re noisy clunkers, with tiny (and expensive) ink cartridges.

I have had this printer for just over month. I am totally impressed by it. It took me a bit of time to figure out the Wi-Fi installation. However, once installed, everything works like a dream.

My wife wanted a high quality photo printer and I wanted one that can do double-sided printing and is capable of wireless printing. I just can’t accept the paper wastage by printers that cannot do duplex printing in this day and age.

The MP640 is everything that it has promised to be. The photo printing quality is absolutely superb and fast. Double-sided is fast and painless too. The high quality scanning capability is, to me, a real bonus. I scanned a photo and made a copy of the scanning image using the printer. I could only tell the difference when I compared them up close. It was impressive.

So far I have not tried printing on a DVD/CD or scanning an image to file yet but I did not buy it for these purposes. So whether these other function work equally well or not I am totally in awe of this printer. All these features coming in at less than GBP£150 is just incredible. I would recommend it to anyone who wants to purchase a wireless, duplex enabled, high-quality photo printer.

I have just one minor issue with it and it is its photo paper support in the back. The flap is flimsy and it feels it could break quite easily if one is not careful. But I have positioned the printer in a place where the back is protected so this is not a serious for me. Please make the back of the next version a little less flimsy, Canon! However, all is all, a job very well done indeed!!

Cheap, fast, gives great prints and scans, does photocopying and can be networked via wifi. Simple to set up too, and takes up little office space. Cannot ask for more. And I love watching the output drawer open automatically when I make a print. ;-)

What a great printer!

Advantages:

-Economical Ink Cartridges (still curious to see if the black cartridge will last for 1875 pages as advertised)

-Very quiet and fast (has an optional quiet mode that is quite innovative)

-Was very easy to set up (especially on the Wireless Network)

-Software package is quite good

-The front tray automatically pops out when printing (which is always fun to watch!)

-Great scanning and copying quality

-The Auto Duplex Feature

-Numerous Copying Features, including double sided copying

-Looks very sleek and stylish

-Lets you print pictures from your mobile phone

-Good size LCD Screen

Disadvantages:

-Paper Tray could have a higher storage capacity

-The back cassette/feeder feels a bit flimsy

-The black glossy bit on the printer gets very dusty/easily smudged

-Menu could be a bit more advanced (but it’s more than adequate)

Haven’t Tested Yet

-Photo printing quality

-longevity of the ink cartridges

Overall, great printer! I was one of the lucky ones who bought it for £144 on Amazon when it first came out!
