The Mortal Instruments series was inspired out of a daily encounter, just like any other author who conceived their ideas mostly with the environment and people they meet in life.
Cassandra Clare has a certain fascination which she claims she never had: Tattoos. She believes the Ancient Runes within this pigmentation where warriors cover their bodies with symbols and images, but the inspiration did not happen within a snap.
