I bought this item for £60 from Amazon and frankly did not expect too much for the price. I was so pleased to find that the quality of video was really good for what I wanted it for – i.e. simple family events, holidays, days out, checking out the golf swing etc. It is always ready to go – out of pocket and ready to shoot in about 3 seconds, faster if you want. It picks up sound well too and I have checked the specs for this 2nd generation camera and it really isn’t worth paying any extra for 3rd gen unless you absolutely must have the latest version. It comes with an extra battery (not that I have needed it – recharging is so easy, just plug into your usb with the attached usb plug) and also with a flexible rubber case which gives it a bit of extra protection if you are hard on your gadgets – which I am. I hardly ever write reviews, but at £60 this little camera is so good for the money you simply cannot go wrong with it.

i bought the vado because i wanted a HD video camera the size of a phone and this has proved to be a godsend, i can video anywhere and view it on any pc as it has its own viewing programme built in.The picture and sound quality is by far the best i have seen for a while,it is no pro camera and it is so easy to use just point and shoot. It has no single shot for photos but with the built in programme i can capture some very good HD photos. The only down side is taking video in low light can be a bit grainy but for £64 what can you expect.I carry the Vado around with me all the time and use it when i can. Its a great piece of kit

This is an easy to use video camera, good picture quality for the price. The only reason I give four stars not 5 is because sometimes it doesn’t seem to want to edit in Windows Movie maker… and sometimes it does!!! I haven’t managed to suss out why that is yet!

Saw these going for a song on amazon (prolly cos the 3rd gen out now) and although I wasn’t even in the market for a pocketcam, when I saw the price I had to check out some reviews and searched youtube for vids made with it. Couldn’t believe how good they looked for such a small handy recorder… and I’m pleased to say that after playing with it for a weekend myself now the results are stunning. Better, sharper, higher def video than my 3-4 year old canon dv camcorder can manage :) The only advantage to my mind is that the camcorder can do 30x optical zoom, but even the 2x digital on the vado aint too shabby.

From a design point of view the only thing missing from the vado is an additional sd card slot, as you’ll only get 1hr 4mins HD+ (highest quality) recording on this unit if the on screen time left indicator is accurate when no files on it yet. But it’s so handy, easy to use, and I can’t believe how vivid and smooth the footage something this small and handy can make. And no faffing about with dv tapes anymore either, just plug it in and copy your movies to your pc (or play on tv with included cables :)

Defo recommended :)

A nice covienient piece of gear. Watch the zoom because fat fingers can be clumsy and stop the filming. Serve’s it’s purpose (Filming Baby). Not good in low light. As evenings get darker this will be more evident but a normal light bulb indoors should do. I wouldnt use it outside after dark. If you want to do this then you’d be better off getting a traditional camcorder which may or may not do better. Some editing software may not work with the film files which if I’m right are avi (Not Sure) Magix video software didnt recognise the format but windows movie maker does and also Ulead which has been taken over by Coral Draw. PS Zoom function could be stronger. I am satisfied because it does what I brought it to do and I will have lots of footage of my beautifull baby girl. A plus is that it came with a spare battery. When I checked a battery cost around £12.
