This is fantastic wee charger, expecially when compared to others on the market. It’s quick (not sure about its electricity usuage though to compare its running cost to the slower ones) and has a great display – it shows when the batteries are fully charged, again a great selling point.
It’s weird though, there always seems to be a bit left to charge if you put a pair back in again after a two pair charge!

Spending £25 or more on a “Universal” battery charger, one would have thought it could charge and single cell. Well, it can’t. In spite of the display leading you to believe there are four individual channels, the device only operates when cells are inserted in pairs.
Why is this important? Because if you have, as I do, a child with a toy that takes three C cells, if you want to avoid charging flat an charged cells together (which is a no-no if you want long life from your NiCds or NIMH cells), you need to buy *NINE* batteries. 3 for the toy, 2 flat awaiting charge, and 4 charged up waiting to go in.
The description doesn’t mention you can’t charge odd numbers of cells. Some chargers can. So describing the device as “Universal” is a bit misleading. In fact, the image on the Amazon web page clearly shows batteries with four different charge states. This is a re-touched photo; the display is LCD and looks nothing like it. Very sharp practice.
If you can live with even-numbers-only charging, the charger seems to work fine, but you’re paying top price for little more than a simple charger.

I bought this a few months ago, and have had no problems with it. It charges the batteries quickly, the display tells you when they are done (except for the 9v batteries) and it looks pretty good sitting on the counter.

Does a really good job charges lots of different sized batteries, much quicker than my old one. Can’t do one battery at a time though, need to charge in pairs.
