This is a neat and cool car mount, but I feel it is not practical for iPhone 4 users.
I think most iPhone 4 owners will have a case for their phone due to the reception issues. However this holder fits tightly to the phone, thus not leaving enough room for a case. I’ve also notice without a case, constant removal of the phone from this holder will scratch the sides of the phone. So I won’t do that. It’s cool that the phone’s mount can be detached from the windscreen suction. This makes it very convenient to change between vehicles if you have the same type of windscreen suction in the other vehicle. If you are thinking of using the detected holder as a case for the iPhone instead of the normal cases, there’s a huge screw at the back which makes it very inconvenient to carry around. Hence, I’ve returned this item as I feel it won’t be practical for my usage.

I bought this holder for my new iPhone4. The iPhone fits very nicely in the case, which has all the necessary openings at the sides/back for key and jack access, and even for the camera.
The only problem is that the part that attaches to the window BROKE the second time I used it! The base does not rotate, so if you attach it wrong you have to remove it and re-attach it. While trying to take it off the window, the small piece that holds the two springs in place (inside the base) broke. I couldn’t fix it, so I had to buy a new one – different of course! I was very disappointed. I don’t know if the one I got was a faulty piece but I wouldn’t recommend it.

The holder is very nicely designed and is a perfect fit for the Iphone 4 without bumper, but if you want to hide your Iphone in an ugly bumper this is not for you as there are plenty of ugly car holders out there that would suit you better. It is minimalist in design and as slim and small as one could reasonably expect the suction and stability once installed and the rubber bezel is tightened are also excellent. I have not taken the car over any challenging off-road yet but I don’t think this would be a problem. It also makes a nice desk mount when you are not using it in the car.
In terms of practicality the mount is designed with a ball joint just behind where you attach the phone so the mount and phone can be positioned at any angle e.g. landscape, portrait, windscreen, side window etc. all are feasible.
No negative points to make, it’s all good!
Well made, it’s certainly not ugly, and has a sweeping minimalist design. If you don’t use a bumper on your iPhone 4 then I would recommend this.
