I bought this camera for my mother-in-law, and took advantage of excellent deals on a 4GB memory card and case which I bought at the same time. I’ve owned a lot of digital cameras and must say that ergonomically, this is one of the nicest (and definately the most resonably priced). It takes nice shots in low light. The flash is well balanced. The picture quality is very good, as is the video. It only gets 4 stars because it does not have a dedicated button to switch between stills and video, which means you have to fish around in a sub-menu, and there is a risk that the camera could switch itself on in your pocket (which could damage the lens as it deploys, thus writing off the camera) – this happened to a previous camera of mine when it was in its case. I prefer compact cameras that have a manually operated sliding front cover – see the Fuji Z30. Finally, it is a very small camera (tricky for me to hold) and the buttons that operate the main functions are very small – probably better for a lady than a gent.

I have browsed dozens of pages before I purchased this camera, at first look it is a great product, is small and practical and it can fit in any pocket.

The 2.7 inches screen is huge and clear. Lithium battery with re-charger made this camera great buy, at this price sounds a real bargain!

I bought it as a xmas present and came with the free case which makes the whole package very appealing.

I would buy this again and I would suggest this to a friend.

Great product worth every penny!

Having had three other digital cameras before this one, I am very pleased with the Fuji J30. I have had a long association with using the old 35mm roll and cassette type cameras. These ranged from Compact and Instant cameras to SLR Zenit and Pentax MZ-50. The modern camera has to be very good to compete with the up surge in Digital cameras that are on the market at present. As I am interested in shooting scenic photos as well as the personal photos, I find that the J30 is very hard to beat. It sits well in the hand and is very well balanced. So far I have shot Autumn scenes, Steam Trains in action on video, as well as the personal ones. The videos, when downloaded to my pc, have turned very well indeed. I can find only a slight fault with the product, the instruction book was absent and had to be downloaded from the internet. This, I found, was rather a blight on the satisfaction that I otherwise got from Fujifilm J30 Camera. Certainly, in the future, if I change to another model, a major point will be if there is an instruction booklet with it or not. I would recomend this camera to anyone who wants a very good reliable digital camera.

As someone that works with graphics I am finding this camera very useful. The pictures are crisp and the operating is easy. Exactly what is needed from a camera, and one that I would have expected to pay a lot more for. I am delighted with it.

Choosing a point and shoot is always complicated because of the vast range available. We set a limit of between £50-£75 and the J30 fitted neatly into this slot. The order and delivery was quick. The camera is small but has a good sized back screen. The menu is very easy to navigate. The controls are obvious and not too small. There are plenty of shooting options and we especially liked the “Auto scene recognition”, `face recognition’ and the `Panoramic’ feature, which gives a very good guide to enable the lining up the panoramic shots. The flash does not over expose and the stabilizer is effective. The battery had a lot of charge in it when we started using the camera, but I tested the charge and it worked okay. A rechargeable battery is a very strong feature in any electronic product. The quality of the photos we have taken whilst playing with the camera look very good and the video quality is very good. The camera loses one star (like all the rest) because the manufacturer can’t be bothered to toss in a measly 1GB memory card.

We have had a number of digital point and shoot and my favourite to date was our cybershot (2003). Sadly Sony do not do a good cybershot anymore. We also own and use (a lot) a Canon EOS 400D but it is heavy and a lot of camera to haul around. The J30 neatly fills the gap between the need for SLR quality shots and the quality of our mobile phone cameras.
