Design Flaw.

My cigarette lighter does not work in my van, and the Garmin will not navigate while charging from any other external power input (goes into computer connect mode). That makes it completely useless for long journeys.

My brother’s Tom Tom One works fine allowing navigation while charging from any external power supply (Although it does tend to crash when running under the battery and cannot be restarted until plugged into an external power supply, making it too unreliable for me).

I thoroughly researched Sat Navs prior to purchase. I read all the reviews I could find and as a subsriber to Which? magazine also saw this model as a best buy. I purchased this just prior to a holiday in the U.K. where we would be driving around a lot. All I can say is WHAT A PIECE OF CRAP!! I have never gone the wrong way so many times in my life. Within three days of my holiday I had to purchase a paper road atlas so we could find our way around. Even when I put my home address as a destination it gets me within 100 yards and tells me to turn left into a different road when my road is on the right! Whilst it worked well on occasions (about 1 in 5)I would definitely not buy one again. I suspect rather than being a problem with Garmin this is probably across the board with all Sat Navs. Stick to the road atlas and save your money.

I purchased this item together with the Garmin Nuvi case as a 60th birthday present for my brother-in-law. Consequently I am unable to make any comment on the use of this satnav other than to say that he is delighted with it. My 5 star rating relates to the prompt delivery and condition on receipt of the two items.

Garmin Nuvi 255wt

I paid the extra to get safety camera updates and traffic information, this is proving to be a wate of money! The speed lmits are not up to date: two roaads within a mile of my house changed over a year ago and the old limits are still being shown on the satnav! the traffic icon sometimes appears and so far, despite updating softwarre from the Garmin site, has not been accurate or of any use whatsoever. The helpline is only available Mon-Friday in office hours and so far, desite several calls, has not been able to sort out thses issues. I might just as well have bought a cheap ‘get me there’ satnav! I am most disappointed with this product – it does not do what is promises to do, and I will be asking to return it for a refund.

Novice with this kind of devices, I decided to go from London to Cornwall with it. Using it in London was a bit of a nightmare and I recommand to have the one which tell u about the congestion zone. Worth the money. I had a bit of surprises in London coz the device wasn’t set to opti

ize my choices of roads. For everything else it did the job ok. Honestly put £50 more and get something better. If not with this device you have something decent and worth your pennies.
