ON RECEIPT, ONE SMALL BOX, MINIMAL INSTRUCTIONS, SO A BIT WORRIED AT FIRST, HOW TO GET ALL THOSE FACILITIES CLAIMED IN THE PRODUCT DESCRIPTION

.

It was actially simple, smooth, and intuitive once you find the help section. After the first set up of locating satellites, which is a little slow, thereafter it is really fast.

It was all ready to go, with battery charged to a low level, so you need to give it a full charge before going too much further. YOu can do this by the included USB computer link, or the in-car charger.

The screen is bright, maps clear , can include incredible detail if select “more” for detail. Or you can have as little as you like. I really like the neatness of the machine, simple layout of icons, clarity of the map, the details and gave it a try on a local journey. (I do not like suction mounts, but if you use them it looks a very neat one, I did not try it.) The spoken instructions are very clear and completely accurate-issofar as I’ve tried it- down to the distance before turns, and include road names. I personally would find this a huge help, especially in my work as often have to drive at night.

Sadly, there is one “but..” I discovered as I was reading the HELP section in more detail, trying to find out how to use the “smart traffic avoidance” as quoted in the product description, and “for life”, that it is not inbuilt as implied.

This was really one of the important reasons for my choice of this machine. This does not appear to exist, with this machine, so I feel very let down. Because there is so little documentation, you don’t know this until you get to this stage.

It has a LOT going for it, and -unless I can find a simple way of subscribing to a traffic subscription with minimal expense, it is going back. If traffic is important to you, I would say it is more worthwhile to go for the garmin nuvi 256WT, which I found out (subsequently unfortunately) includes all of the above, and a bit more, PLUS a lifetime traffic subscription.

I work on field and i had been given a new area to work at. I decided i needed a sat nav as now i have no pateince with a to z’s. did extensive research and decided NOt to get a tom tom as its far too common and i wasnt getting much for my money. So, i settled for this. well what can i say, its probably the best gadget i have ever bought. very simple to use, u dont even need a manual. the bluetooth is not great if u want to connect ur mobile to it, but it only takes a millionth of a second to track satellites and tell me of my route. recalculating route is just as fast! for me its God sent, flawless. Points of interest is very accurate, and the lady who talks is not annoying and very clear in what she is saying. its battery life is very good. and up until now, the sat nav has not taken me into a river or over a hill ! i would highyl recommend it. Also AMazon prime got me this within one day – first unit seemed like a custonmer return and i so i returned it back and amazon got me the replacement unit within 18 hours! great. also DO not order additional cables… the box comes with one.

I got this as a birthday present for my Dad and he has been very impressed. I have an older Nuvi 250 which is good, but having used this one I can really appreciate the improvements/extra features. It has widescreen and bluetooth capability and a constant reminder of the max speed for the road you are currently on.

Well worth the extra few quid – and it’s got Europe maps too. Oh, and the verbal directions are more precise…”turn right at the roundabout on to the High street” whereas mine just says “take the 3rd exit”. The case for it is good too, and not very dear.

Works fine, straight from the box. I found using it to be intuitive – I still haven’t looked at any instructions. Hooked up to both of my mobile phones over blue tooth, no problem. On the journeys I’ve made so far, the instructions were clear and correct. The screen is easy to see, even without my reading glasses.

I took delivery promptly as usual from Amazon. Very pleased with the product. Its very user friendly and the wide screen is clear and sharp. When loading the infrormation to Register with Garmin the maps were completely wiped off the unit. I hasten to add that this was my fault and not Garmins. I telephoned Garmin service, they said they would put a replacement in the post and that I should return the unit to them. The next day I receive a 265WT complete with ‘Traffic’ upgrade. It has become a much used ‘Friend’
