I have owned the original iTrip for the iPod, I own the second generation iTrip (with Digital Display), I have owned the Griffin RoadTrip with SmartScan, I have used the Belkin FM transmitter, I have used a Kensington FM transmitter, I own the Harman/Kardon Drive + Play (which is hard-wired to the stereo’s antennae) . However, this recent incarnation of the iTrip is without doubt the best by a country mile. To say it is superb by comparison is an understatement.

I took it out today to London, where every other FM transmitter has failed due to severe interference, but this iTrip handled it effortlessly. Also, the SmartScan is the best in relative comparison to any other Griffin iTrip.

I cannot recommend this iTrip enough. Also, for those people wishing to use it with an iPhone or iTouch can download the superb app from Apple Store for tuning etc.

Don’t expect this to perform as well as an aux input, but for an FM transmitter in my honest opinion this is the best.

Just a warning to anyone thinking of buying this transmitter for an older iPod.

I bought this on the strength of various reviews, but on receiving the product, found it would not work with my iPod (an 80gB iPod with video).

Checking on the Griffin site, it appears that my iPod is not compatible with this newer iTrip, although there’s no warning on the Amazon site, and the booklet that came with the product says it works with ‘most dockable iPods’…

Oh well…

this is the worst transmitter Ive used, poor FM reception ( when you eventually get a station) the user interface is very poor with a) having to tune the radio, then checking the frequency, then doing it again….once you do find a free station ( in London- good luck) the reception crackle is so bad that i dont use it any more and ive only had it a WEEK!, thought this was one of the better ones following the reviews on here, prior to this I had a gear4 with follow me technology & that was really good- till it fell to bits…oh well back to CD’s i think…….product awful, dispatch & delivery however were good so hence the single star….

i am very pleased with this new itrip. fantastic quality – moreover you can download an app on your iphone, so that the itrip is then on your iphone – making it even easier to control when you’re driving etc. SmartScan finds the clearest frequency to play your music through your car or home stereo speakers without hassles or wires. it also has controls that let you play, pause, skip forward and skip back with a press of a button. overall very nice design ,easy to use, super new technology – 5 stars from me – am very pleased.

This little beauty is fantastic! I’ve you’ve had similar devices in the past, but have been disappointed by the quality of sound… think again; you get CD-quality sound, and it’s really easy to use. I’d recommend getting the charging kit at the same time, because you won’t stop using it!

Excellent service as well – ordered, and it arrived 2 days later. So good I actually ordered a second one as a gift.
