The first review pretty much somes up this TV – yes it is very light and I too found how easy it can be to tip this TV over when your setting it up – so be careful! Setup is extremely quick and easy – it probably took less then 1 minute for the TV to find all the channels.

THE PICTURE QUALITY IS STUNNING particularly when I am playing blu-rays or my xbox 360 and even my standard defintion sky seems to look alot better.

I really wouldnt consider the 1 scart socket an issue because the TV also has 2 hdmi ports, a VGA port + loads more which means I have my sky box, blu-ray player and xbox 360 connected to this TV without having to use a scart splitter cable.

I think this TV is agreat option for anyone looking for a medium size full HD TV and it is great value for money!

I bought this Television 2 weeks ago to replace an old 26″ Rear projection TV which was on its last legs. The first thing I noticed when taking it out of the box and setting it up was that it is a really light TV; this is both a blessing and a curse. The TV being so light is easy to set up and move around but also can be easy to tip over if caught when moving around it (as I found out whilst setting it up – although I caught it before it fell over)

Once I have it unpacked and wired up I turned the power on and was very surprised to see that after selecting the country and time zone the TV noticed that it had no stored channels and went immediately into auto scan mode and programmed in both the Analogue and Digital TV channels without me having to navigate the menu looking for setup. (Don’t forget to plug the arial into the TV before you turn it on for the first time :))

Once the auto setup had finished I did not even need to select which channels were on what station as it automatically arranged them correctly. The picture quality is as you would expect from a full HD TV and on HDMI with 1080P input it is crystal clear and bright. Picture quality also looks better on normal definition TV than it looked on my old TV.

No review would be complete without some CON’s and there are some…

There is ONLY 1 scart socket on the TV so expect to but a Scart splitter cable if you have cable / DVD/Blue ray players to wire up that use scart cables.

The unit is very light, and children may well cause issues if playing close to it.

The TV does not have support for surround sound systems such as Dolby digital 5.1 and such.

All in all for the price this is an excellent TV and has a really clear and sharp screen, you can not go wrong with this one as long as you take note of the CON’s.

Hope this helps you all.

After some research I opted to buy the Hannspree 28inchTV

The TV arrived next day, 3days earlier than expected.

It took longer to seperate from the packaging than the TV did to set itself up!

Great picture and sound, would recommend it.

Regards

Derek

Received this tv finally after 1st order did not arrive due to sender been out of stock(did receive with no concerns within 3 days from 2nd sender).

Bought this tv due to reading many reviews on line, some not so good, but some, sorry MANY said that it is simply brilliant.

A few people stressed that the tv is not very heavy, well let me inform everyone, that flat-panel tv`s are NOT suppose to be heavy!

When I first tuned in the tv(tuning is easy just follow the on-screen menu as stated in other reviews)& saw the picture,I was shocked….it was soooo BAD.

In seeing this I tried to adjust the tv till the very early hours of the morning, with NO great joy…what so ever.

Next day due to the fact that we own a 32″ LG & was having a excellent viewing from this(after tuning in by myself),I knew it had to be the tv(picture quality was never going to be as good as a £500 LG with skyhd,or so I thought!).

Then a brainwave, swap the tv`s around(Hannspree was connected to sky+ in our bedroom),well this was the moment of pure inspiration,BANG..THIS HANNSPREE JUST TOOK OFF,Picture(HD & SD),Sound,Settings, everything became clear & focused this tv,& I`m sure many others reveal a lot of what was originally been broadcast by the tv stations. Trust me I`m a very very fussy man when it comes to quality,so take my word, for the price………”THIS TV IS A NO BRAINER”.

One word of warning, this tv really does NEED a hdmi feed to be at it`s best!!

Up-date review(28-02-10):

Highly recommended with any HD source, also excellent in SD!!

Under my original review there is a comment by a “clemenzina”(if you click on comments at the bottom you will be enlightened!),in which I feel that I gave this tv a bit of a mis-judgement.I stated in the original review that the tv really needed a hd source, this is NOT totally correct. Yes it does shine in hd(skyhd),but even with the tv just hooked up to my sky+(which is non hd)the Picture(& to some degree the sound)is EXCELLENT. With the Thompson sky+ box colours, textures & definitions have never looked so real. When hooked-up to a DVD 5.1 Surround Sound Player(which happens to be over 5 yrs old)once again the Hannspree does not disappoint. The built-in converter displays dvd pictures to a very high standard indeed(not as far away from a LG BD live Blu-ray Player as you,or even I would have thought!).

This tv just seems to get better & better, you do NEED to adjust the settings to your own preference, this CAN be time consuming(our sky+ & the dvd player have totally different picture settings),but the effort is well worth it! Plus do make sure you do not view the screen at to far of a “off-set” angle,as this does distort the picture more & more the wider you go(not great if you view from below or above the screen either).

Concerning viewing distance,we find that 7 to 8ft away is excellent viewing on our set-up,but other`s may find other distances(nearer or further away)may suit.

To sum-up in one sentence,if I could give this tv SIX stars,I would…THIS TV IS…V.H.R(Very.Highly.Recommended).

Flexibility for connecting different source equipment(skyhd,sky+,blu-ray,pc…etc).

Excellent Built in Converter.

CONS:

Viewing angle.

Not a big name make as this will & probably have put some people off!

Wow! What a tv. Games, Dvds,Photos, or just watching TV. Sky, DTV or terestrial, (soon to be switched off) I found the 28″ Hannspree to be excellent. A first class well priced piece of equipment, just the right size for our lounge and I can connect it to my computer if I wish. Took it out of the box, connected it up and bingo, we were watching TV within two or three minutes. My wife and I both love it.
