As long as you have firmware 1.1 installed on the camera this works perfectly. If you upgrade to firmware 1.2 it will not work.(no point upgrading really as the only thing the upgrade will do is stop you using 3rd party batteries!)

I used my Panasonic DMC TZ7 (firmware version 1.2) with the iBox battery for the first time last night.

The camera turned on perfectly and the life of the battery is as good as the original that came with the camera.

I shot HD video for over an hour and still had one bar left on the battery indicator. I haven’t done the exact comparison but it looks like being equal, if not slightly better than the original battery that came with the camera.

So save yourself nearly £20 by buying this one, rather than getting ripped off by Panasonic which has become money hungry.

Note it definitely does work with firmware version 1.2, even though I was initially worried by the scare tactics that Panasonic used on me when I rang them to complain about the battery life and the cost of buying a second battery.

The Panasonic DMC-TZ6 camera comes with an “ID Secured” battery. I was concerned that a non-genuine battery may therefore be a problem. However, having been unable to find a genuine Panasonic DMW-BCG10E, I can verify that this battery works just as well (and is considerable less expensive).

I purchased this battery 04/12/09 for a TZ7 with ver 1.2 software and I can confirm that it is compatible and works fine as indicated by the vendor.

If you have a Panasonic TZ series camera, you realy need to carry a spare battery for it when out and about as they run down fairly quickly. The best you can get for price and reliability (much cheaper than panasonics own) is from iBox.
