Infernal Engines

A Lovecraftian tale of mystery and horror set in a steam punk-inspired world, still reeling from a devastating World War between the German and British Empires against Soviet Russia, edges closer and closer to apocalypse at the hands of their own creations, orchestrated by the sinister Father Dietrich.

This is a great book, with several interconnected stories that lead to a dramatic end, I thoroughly enjoyed reading it and found the use of language to be exquisite. The terminology used helped to set the scene perfectly and throw you deep into the story line. I cannot recommend this book more and certainly hope there is a second coming out soon!

Gripping series of short stories :), 30 Dec 2011

An excellent collection of short stories. Skilful characterisation, gripping plot-lines and sinister intrigue make it difficult to put down my Kindle! Each individual story has its own merits – I particularly loved ‘Sacrifice of the Liar.’ Though I won’t ruin the ending for you, it builds up to a climax Poe or Lovecraft would’ve been proud of. Taken as a whole, the stories are all cleverly woven together, creating a believable and fascinating universe that I hope the writer will continue to explore.

After reading this book I was massively impressed and could hardly put it down. I loved it from the moment it started and enjoyed how all the different story lines came together and link seamlessly to create a truly entertaining book. Just request that the author writes more books to the same high standard with such interesting story lines.
