The INFORAD K2 now has a longer battery life span and also includes a volume control to allow the personal setting of low, medium or high to your own requirements, thus making your driving and safety experience extremely pleasurable. INFORAD K2 – the world’s smallest camera warning system – uses GPS satellite technology to determine your vehicle’s current position, compares it to an on-board database of thousands of known and speed camera locations and red light camera locations in the UK & Europe, and then alerts you in advance with visual and audible alarms when you are near a camera. It is 100% road legal in the UK and works right out of the box – just charge the internal battery and place on your dashboard or affix to your windscreen. INFORAD K2 includes free unlimited access and updates to the #1 camera locations database. New cameras are being added to the database all the time and you can download updates for free using your Windows PC (does not work on Mac OS) with the built-in USB connector and be protected for no additional charge. Other GPS speed warning systems typically charge a subscription fee for database updates – which can be over £30 per year – making INFORAD K2 the most affordable GPS speed camera locator on the market. I’ve been looking for a camera detector that would fulfil my criteria. It had to be unobtrusive, wireless and small. This fits the bill perfectly and for just £49.99 with free lifetime updates. It has no screen; just some LEDs and audible alerts.

It is easily updated via your PC (not MACs) using Pocketgpsworld’s proven database. You can also access the settings via the PC (after you have downloaded the software from Inforad’s website) where you can set the distance that trigger the various alerts, and the directional switch. The volume control is on the unit itself.

I have mounted the K2 on top of my rear view mirror where it has line of sight with the satellites and is in my peripheral vision.

It locks onto the satellites pretty quickly and provides you with a tone to let you know. When approaching a camera site (fixed or mobile) the machine alerts you with an audible alert and a flashing LED. If you’re exceding the limit, the tone is a two tone siren. It’s a quieter beep if you are within the limit.

Along with the unit comes a charger which plugs into the cigar socket in car. It also charges when plugged into the PC.

Overall, I’m very impressed with the K2. It’s only the size of a USB flash drive, but it packs a lot of punch. Highly recommended if you’re not after a unit with a screen and cables.

Having bought a car with inbuilt satnav, I missed having the camera warnings that my ‘TomTom’ used to provide. The Inforad has proved a useful and (comparatively) low cost solution. I found the setup fairly easy, although for some reason it wouldn’t work on the first 2 USB ports I tried. Problems? . . .well, to start with, I ordered a K2 with the volume control switch. I got a K1 in K2 packaging – not good. Occasional false ‘over the speed limit’ alarms (maybe due to out of date speed limit information, especially on motorways) which seem to go on for ages – needs a mute button. Battery life seems to be about 5 hours; recharging is fairly speedy with the supplied in-car charger, faster from the mains (mains charger NOT supplied). Overall, does what I wanted.
