I don’t normally do reviews, but I am very impressed with this device. I took a while making my mind up as there were no reviews and thought it might make life easier for others if I wrote one. I had been looking at a number of different models and decided to take a bit of a gamble on this. I wanted one with a camera and although it does state ‘with camera’ the spec does not mention it. When it arrived there was no mention of a camera on the box either, but it does indeed have a camera (up to 2MP), and can also take video. It has no flash.

The screen is great – very clear, and the touchscreen works well, with the pages ‘sliding’ open when selected. I haven’t tried the conversion software yet, as it plays videos I had previously converted for another device flawlessly. MP3’s play well too – and the screen turns off after a preset time (which you can change) to save power. One of the best features that is not even mentioned is that it plays Flash files – ie YouTube videos – straight from download with no converting required.

Not sure about how long the battery will last in use – it says up to ten hours in the instructions – but I have not tested this.

On the down side – the packaging is rather flimsy ( mine was bubble wrapped to protect it and so arrived in good condition), and the earphones that come with it are not good quality so you may want to replace them (standard 3.5mm jack).

I got this player only a few days ago and I have to say im impressed. At first I struggled with it as there was no user manual. I didn’t know the user manual had to be downloaded from the AMG website(does seem quite obvious now!). The player looks great and considering all the features it’s a bargain. However if you’re somewhat impatient you might dismiss the player too quickly. Take the time to read the manual and guides on the website to learn how it works, its worth it.

The guides on the website for getting videos and you tube on to player are excellent and normally I wouldn’t bother with these features but I followed it through – now I’ve got some real funnies on the player!

My next issue was getting music on to the player, it needs mp3 format music. Its now clear to me why everyone says convert your WMA files to MP3, anyway I used Windows Media Player 11 to rip all my CDs again and this time I converted them all to MP3 format and now I just use the Sync tab to get all my music on to the player. You can drag and drop but I haven’t bothered as im happy using windows media player.

All in all I think its great value for money and even though I haven’t used all the functions yet I am satisfied with my purchase. Battery life is good, I charged it for 3 hours and I used it going to work, during lunch and again on the way home which is several hours overall.

I’ve read some of the reviews about the earphones on this player not being good so I wasn’t expecting much, but with my player I received a pair of ear-bud earphones that are amazing, they’re far better than the ones on my ipod shuffle. So don’t buy a new pair until you’ve tested the ones supplied with the player.

I’ve been looking for a device to replace my iPod as I disliked the tie downs you have with iTunes purchased music and this has done just that. As mentioned in the other review, I was suprised to see Flash files were playable on this, something ill personally use alot so, bonus.

Another missed-out feature is the Web-cam, install the driver, select web-cam from the tools menu on the player, connect the usb cable and done, another bonus.

Music is arranged well, drag and drop to add music to the player in the “music” folder and it automatically arranges them, so when you go to play music, you can choose music by Artist, Album, Song etc.

The player overall was a little smaller than I was expecting but the video playback is great, its perfectly clear and the whole thing is shockingly light, my keys are heavier.

The camera can do video aswell, and take pics of upto 1600×1200 res.

The 4GB memory can be monitored, the SD card is a fantastic bonus, since you can buy 4GB SD cards for less than £10 its a bargain to double your memory.

Wall charger is a nice extra, it uses the usb cable to connect it to the player.

My drawbacks: 1 of the menu items “Files” is spelt wrong (seriously) it says “Flies”.

The player can be slow to respond ‘sometimes’ but catches up (havnt used the reset button as yet)

The text function is only to read text files, you cant write your own on the player (would have been nice).

The supplied headphones are aweful, I thought it was a mix of the player being poor and headphones but I hooked up a decent set and the sound quality was fantastic, bass was deep and the high end notes are clear. The supplied headphones are not even good enough to be keept as a spare.

I could easily go on about its good bits but ill end this on the overall theme and styling, they have made it look modern throughout, its got glassy windows and buttons and funky background images.

I wasnt expecting much for £40, but I was pleasantly suprised by this, a gamble that payed off.

UPDATE: Seems as though the brand and product has changed looking at the picture. While it seems to use the same functions as the older version, it must be said that my review was not based on the exact model you see in the picture now. I have the AMG branded version.

I bought this player for my sons 12th birthday and he thinks its fantastic! It does everything, and it does everything well if you have patience and respect for it. Why? Well to move from function to function it can be a little slow (I mean a second or two – not 30!), so, press the icon once not over and over again. (If you get icon trigger happy and it freezes..no worries..press the reset button.. you wont lose any stuff)The only other gripe is that there is no instruction booklet enclosed, you have to download it. However, I guess thats saving paper etc. I couldn’t download it at first, so I contacted the supplier who sent me another link (Great company!Quick responses!)Overall, great product and what do you want for less than £40!

Bought this player a week or two ago as my new vista laptop didnt want to work with my ipods and to be honest i was sick of Apple anyways. Read all the reviews before i bought it but was still concerned.

It arrived promptly and in great packaging. The player looks great and the touch screen is so easy to use i have not bothered touching the provided stylus. The sound quality is again great. Being drag and drop it is so easy to use. The battery power is fine, it lasts for a few days of medium to heavy use and charges quickly.

It comes with a charger, usb cable, stylus and carrying pouch. The kubik website provides a 12 month warranty and when i got in touch with them for a slight issue ( i had trouble working the randomise track function, my fault not the players) they got back to me in a day.

The instruction manual is easy to use.

In conclusion, for the money you are paying YOU WILL NOT FIND A BETTER PLAYER ANYWHERE. it has a radio, plays videos and photos and a 4G memory expansion slot.

It basically blows Apple out of the water. Enjoy

Hi there – just got my Kubik Edge II and can’t wait for it to charge up. Just one
question – the stylus has a cord which appears to be for attaching to the
device – but I cannot find a place, on the Kubik, to attach it – please help. :-/
