After buying an FZ38 and looking at the cost of Panasonic spare batteries, I’d pretty much decided that I’d rely on a charge lasting for a day’s shooting. But at this price you’d be barking mad not to get yourself a spare. It fits my FZ38 just as well as the one supplied with the camera.

A couple of other reviews here say that their battery did not fit. If this is a concern (and I guess it should be, in case it happens to you), just be extra-careful when you first use it. You should find that if you hold the camera upside down, the supplied battery needs no more than the force of gravity to slide past the little grey plastic lock and onto the spring at the bottom of the battery compartment. When you get your spare battery, check to make sure that the same is true – for both ends of the battery. If it is, then you can use it confidently. If it is not, remove it (DON’T shove it where it doesn’t fit) and demand a replacement from the supplier. None of the people who have reported problems with this battery have indicated whether they did this. I guess one reason for the product’s cheapness may be rather less rigorous quality control.

I’ve just bought a panasonic dmc fz7 with a 2 gig sd card. this gives around 600 pics at 6 megapixels. the battery allows for around 300 so I thought I’d invest in a spare. Saw this one at a price 1/5th of the original, in fact the postage set by Amazon was more than the cost of the battery! Delivery took 2 days from ordering, which was 2 days before the promised despatch date, not bad eh? Actually it’s a higher rating than the original battery too, 800 ma compared to 750ma. Haven’t managed to run it down yet despite taking pics of everything in sight, the computer, the fire, the stereo system, the tv, the girl friend, (she told me I had to take one of her)the garden…….and so on.

Very happy with the product and the service. Excellent

At this price, the battery has proved invaluable. I would recommend everyone carries a spare battery when travelling, as it’s criminal to miss those crucial shots that you may never get another chance to take.

This battery has good power output and lasts as long as the original. A great buy.

Having just purchased a Lumix FZ38 and having looked around for a spare battery I spotted this one and like other reviewers though it must be too good to be true. Er, wrong!

Having used this battery I am surprised that something so cheap is so capable.

I have to knock it down one star as it tended to ‘stick’ in the battery bay and required a tap on the camera to release it – something of tricky job whilst holding the retaining clip out of the way! By lifting the label and putting piece of cotton under it a fix was made but then, oddly, it suddenly freed up and now ejects fine – so a small markdown on the construction there.

On it’s stamina in use it is only slightly, and only very slightly, shorter on shots than the original and this may improve with cycling.

Overall I have to say it’s a no brainer. Going out on a shoot with just one battery is foolhardy and so is not getting one of these as a backup. For the price of one original you could get a few of these and keep clicking all day.

Delivery was not particularly speedy but who cares at this price. For such a saving I can be very patient.

Nice one.

An extremely low price for a battery that does the job. I have not done a durability (number of shots) test against the Panasonic battery suppplied with the FZ 38 camera, but it seems to be about the same. Thoroughly recommended.
