Pros: Comes with a fairly good instruction booklet. But, to be frank, you don’t need it unless you are a complete technophobe; the operation of the equipment is quite intuitive. I just plugged it into the cigar lighter socket; found a frequency that was spare on the car radio; tuned the device to that frequency and hey presto! I had almost cd quality music blaring out of the speakers.

Cons: There is an annoying buzzing noise in the silence between the tracks, this disappears completely when music is playing. I’m not sure what it will be like with the spoken word. Also, I found that the plug was a very tight fit in my car’s cigar lighter socket which made removal a tad fiddly.

Overall this is an extremely good buy, good value for money and well worth the 5 star rating.

When looking for an FM Transmitter to enable me to listen to my MP3 player through the car radio, the reviews mentioning an annoying noise between tracks put me off of the Logic 3, so I bought the Kensington Universal FM transmitter. It has been a real pain to use – with weak transmission requiring several frequency changes. Switching on the heated rear window in my Vauxhall Vectra blocks the transmission of the signal to the car aerial. With the Kensington, the unit itself plugs into the cigarette lighter, therefore the unit can only be positioned there. The Kensington was so useless, that I stopped using my MP3 player in the car and put my CD’s back in. Giving up on the Kensington, I have now purchased a Logic 3 transmitter and what a difference! The build quality is 100 times better than the Kensington and the display is much easier to read. In use, the Logic 3 does exactly what it should, takes the music from my MP3 player and transmits it to my car radio. Switching on my heated rear window causes no reception issues whatsoever. The reception is always crystal clear. As mentioned in other reviews, it is true that there is some hissing between tracks, but it is very quiet hissing indeed, no worse than the noise between tracks on a vinyl record (showing my age here). I only picked up on the hissing noice because having read the reviews here, I listened out for it, otherwise it really isn’t noticeable. I don’t actually think is is a hissing noise, I think it is just that between tracks, the car radio is not receiving any music from the MP3 player and all you are hearing is barely noticeable background. The Logic 3 has a long lead which plugs into the cigarette lighter socket. This is great because you can then position the unit wherever you want to, much better than plugging the unit itself into the cigarette lighter socket without a lead. If you are thinking of buying an FM transmitter for use in your car, then in my opinion the Logic 3 is the one to go for.

I live in North Norfolk and use these transmitters with my IPAQ, iPod nano, Sony CD Player and Nokia N95

Pros: Looks brilliant, sleek and smooth design. Annoying ring is a mild buzz!

Cons: Can’t use it unless you’re in the car (unless you have cigarette chargers in your house…) Can’t adjust the volume using the iPod though, you have to turn the actual stereo down, but you can do this on anything plugged in by the 3.5 mm

IN THE BOX:

You get the actual device with one lead for the cigarette car charger, and one for the adaptors (iPod and 3.5 mm headphone) these are permenantly connected

LOOKS:

Sleek, smooth and black. Looks smart if you like. The paint rubs off the buttons easily though. Super bright screen which displays the frequency or the setting (500, 501, 502 etc up to 509)

ROBUST:

Seems good, no breakages yet. Feels sturdy as well. the wires are thick so unlikely to snap or break

EDIT: I have noticed a couple of other people commenting on this, do be aware if you are constantly plugging it in and unplugging it the screw in the end may come loose, just keep an eye on it!

SOUNDS:

Sounds great! My only problem sound wise is that you can’t adjust the volume using the device, you have to use the radio, which is ok but I’ve got used to being able to quickly make it quieten when I needed it to. You can do this with the 3.5 mm socket though… a slight design hitch?

BATTERY:

Very quick charge through this device to the iPod. My only problem with the battery life is that you can’t run it without being plugged into a car. I use mine in my room and at work, which obviously are two places where I don’t have cigarette chargers!

EXTRA FEATURES:

The charge of the iPod is the only one, which works fantastically. Its also optional so you don’t over charge the iPod, brilliant

THE ANNOYING IN CAR WHISTLE:

…is actually more of a low buzz with this, and easily drowned out. Result!

CONCLUSION:

Worth the money if you are only planning to use it in the car, if you want to use it at home, or work its impossible. Good screen and easy to use/set up. Plays through all of my devices fantastically. Definitely recommend.

Got this today based on the super-positive reviews I read here. Sorry but here in Dublin it doesn’t work – maybe we have too many busy FM frequencies. The best I got was a very buzzy few seconds of music before it reverted to whatever station was occupying the slot. A friend keeps getting the police traffic report wavelengh; he can’t get a similar product to work either. Not blaming Logic3, but as a non-radio listener, extremely disappointed. Will revert to playing CDs and/or wearing my headphones in the car.

Logic3 MIP168K FM Transmitter and Car ChargerBought this in February to replace a transmitter that was stolen from my car and another sub-standard replacement. It is easy to use with my Creative Zen player and the sound is good for a wide range of music. I live in Birmingham and commute to Leamington and haven’t had any problems with interference.
