Great product. Protect the phone very well. Adds good grip to the phone. Adds little bulk to the phone, but I don’t have any problem with that since I have large hands.

Con: The outer silicon attracts dust and lint.

This is the first time I’ve had a smart phone so was really sure I wanted to get the right case to protect it. This is a grat case. the phone sits beautifully inside the plastic case, with no rattling, and the silicone cover is easy to fit and gives excellent grip. The screen cover responds very well and is nice and clear. I’ve had no problems at all with watermarking, and having to add sweat or dust, as alot of people have written in previous reviews with the iphone 3 case, just put the phone in and started playing!! The plastic belt clip is excellent to have when I put my phone in my motorcycle bag for added protection and is useful as a stand, but would I use it as a belt clip? Don’t think so! I’m not sure it would hold on that well, but mainly, I don’t want to look like a wally.

The only downside is the cover for the charger port is quite fiddley to close and not as secure as the other port covers. I would have liked to see some impact protection rubber inside the plastic case to help with dropping impact, as I’m not sure how much the outer silicone will give, but maybe I’m wanting a bit too much? Mind you, I’ve had it two weeks now and haven’t dropped it once which is a miracle for me, so either i’ve been holding my precious phone more securely, or the outer silicone is doing it’s job.

Overall very happy with the cases’ function and like the styling.

The OtterBox Defender Case for the iPhone 4 is extremely well designed and makes you feel very confident that its contents are securely protected. All materials are good fit and good quality, all in all very nicely engineered. There is no issue installing the screen protector because it is part of a unity that snaps to the front of the phone. I am even hopeful that the little port flaps in the silicone case will stand the test of time. Following installation the screen is still very clear and bright – none of 3 users here report any difference to the quality of the ‘retina’ display. The silicone case has a pleasant texture that adds grip to the phone but is pleasantly stiff and in jeans pockets picks up only tiny amounts of fluff – very unlikely to be a problem. Access to all ports is great and protection is as thorough as it could be without compromising useability. A back plate for fixing to a belt is included which looks very robust and well considered, though I wouldn’t wear my iphone this way on a London tube or in crowds anywhere.

For people travelling frequently, or who often find themselves within an insecure environment,or who are maybe just prone to accidents, this case is worth the investment.

On the downside it does turn a very elegant piece of machining into something much more resembling a brick; it does offer some resistance to being slid out of a pocket; it is expensive. This is one excellent case and in itself worthy of 5 stars – got 4 because it is possibly more rugged than needed for myself, someone who is looking for maybe less in bulk while accepting less in shower/knock/drop/chemical/scratch/slip resistance. Recently acquired the Otterbox Commuter case which seems to better satisfy my needs personally.

Much better than the 3g version they seemed to have solved the problem with the film cover sticking to the screen which was a big irritant with the 3g defender. Having the phone in the case also solves the signal drop off problem. Very happy with the Otterbox Defender and would recommend to anyone who wants a sturdy secure case.

I owned an otterbox defender for the 3gs and it was great, this one for the 4 is not as good. the charger flap is very insecure and the rubber skin peels back easly. the phone rattles inside the case. utter rubbish.
