I agree with the previous reviewer who has been clear and accurate throughout although I would mention that a light flashes on the base unit when a recorded call has been received and a symbol appears in all handsets together with a number (of calls) for the same reason. Not perfect, particularly if your base unit is remote from your living area as mine is. However, I like these phones far too much to reduce the star rating! I was pleasantly surprised to find that all four handsets registered themselves without any help from me and also that in setting one I was setting them all. Unless I have missed something, all handsets will have the same ring melody and there there is no choice for the base unit. The main thing is that incoming calls and internal calls do have different ring melodies. Clarity is excellent and on intercom calls, superb! Finally, they don’t come any cheaper than from Amazon – they’re still a few pence short of £100 elsewhere.

The set comprises four identical handsets, three with recharging (only) bases, and a fourth also containing the main CPU and answerphone.

Appearance will always be subjective, but I am very pleased with the simple, uncluttered smart silver and grey livery. Size-wise at approximately 6″ by 2.75″, these well-balanced handsets are slightly larger than average, allowing them to sit very comfortably in the hand and also seem “natural” in use. Careful attention to ergonomics continues with large, clearly labelled and well spaced buttons, and an equally clear display with, again, large easy-to-read characters.

The base of the display shows up to three context sensitive icons (eg. addressbook, menu, call-log), accessed by three soft buttons directly beneath them. A further rocker button provides for navigation up/down the selected funtion (eg. addressbook). All very intuitive and straightforward. A useful feature is that addressbook entries can optionally be copied (easily) from one handset to another, so don’t have to be entered multiple times. Unusually for multi-handset systems, it also is possible for more than one handset to connect simultaneously – a handy option, particularly when needing to transfer the call.

Sound quality is crisp and clear, and the effective range impressive; working without dropouts or degredation to the far end of my garden – about 90′ and a couple of walls from the base station. Recording quality is quite reasonable too.

As I am really pleased with this set, why not a five star rating? Because I really miss the intermittent “message received” beep from my previous unit that used to warn of new messages. Consequently I have only discovered some messages hours (or in a couple of cases, days) after I should have. I am amazed that such a useful (vital?) feature is missing from an otherwise outstanding system. Also the icons on the answerphone aren’t perhaps quite as intuitive as I would wish. But that said, it is a great piece of kit and highly recommended. Just don’t forget to look and see if you have any messages each time you return home!

Our previous DECT BT synergy phones had started to play up and rather than try to get hold of some second hand ones (that model is no longer available new), we thought we would try to get some new ones. We found these ones on offer in Tesco, but they had sold out and did not know when new stock would arrive. Fortunately, Amazon were selling them at exactly the same price with free delivery!

They look very neat and tidy and have a large clear screen. Easy to set up as well. All handsets are preregistered to the base station. I like the ability to copy phone entries from one phone to another, but it is sad that Panasonic did not include the ability to copy an entry (or all entries) to every phone in one operation. As it is, a new entry has to be sent to each phone individually, which is a bit of a pain, but not something I do every day, so I have not marked it down on that. Also seemed strange that Panasonic had not enabled the autotalk feature (just pick the phone up off the cradle to answer it as opposed to having to pick it up and then press the talk button) by default. One has to turn it on individually for each handset. Again, a one off operation and so not really a hassle.

The base station will accept up to 6 phones and so we actually registered two of the old BT phones to it as well. These work fine as basic hand sets but obviously cannot integrate fully with all the functions of the others.

There is a light on the base unit and an icon on each handset when a phone message has been recorded and you can choose (at least via handset operation) to listen to new messages only or all messages. Not experimented with recording our own outgoing message, but the recording of the actual phone message is clear and easy to listen to.

One almost trivial but useful (longterm) feature is that the handsets use standard AAA NiMH batteries. They are not enormously high capacity and so if one wanted to get much longer standby and talk time from one charge, one could change them out immediatley for higher capacity ones. However, for me, the reason this is good is when the batteries get old. They can simply by changed out for new ones. Our older BT phones had a little battery pack with a lead on it and so needed special batteries to be bought if a battery change was needed.

Overall, a great set of phones and for the price we paid, an absolute steal!

Excellent phones, So much better than the BT phones they replaced. 15-20% cheaper than Tesco, Argos, Currys ect and delivered the day after ordering. Highly recommend the phones and the delivery company DST(UK)LTD.

Panasonic KX-TG6424ES DECT Quad Digital Cordless Phone Set with Answer Machine in SilverI chose these phones to replace an ageing pair of BT cordless ones. I have to agree with most of the other Amazon reviewers. They are very easy to set up, especially the internal phone book which is simply transmitted to the other three handsets. Equally easy is the answerphone setup, and the ability to dial-in and listen to your messages when you are away is a really useful feature. Sound quality is very good, with simple volume control and loudspeaker controls. Unlike my old phones one very useful feature is the ability of all 4 handsets to connect to the same call. I guess the ring-tones aren’t too good but that is hardly a big problem and I was able to find a couple that I like]. I would have no problem with recommending this product to anyone else.
