Iv’e bought lots of more expensive headphones over the years but none had the sound quality of these. The response is very even with an unrivelled bass end that gets right down to the subs which is unusual for heaphones at this price. And no they’re not boomy. I bought a pair of philips headphones that were next up in line at £35 and they just wern’t as good.

They are very comfortable. The pads are a soft fabric and your ears fit inside the cups so they’re not pressed against your head.

If you want to preserve the listening quality of your music, buy these, theres nothing better at this price.

A decent pair of headphones for the money. More suited to use with a TV than music. The enhanced bass response makes explosions etc. fun but makes bassy music sound quite boomy. Also having 6m of cable makes these more suited to TV use rather than portable music situations; try cramming 6m of cable into your pocket on a train without attracting odd looks from other people! Treble response is alright but not brilliant. Sometimes i feel that there is a bit too much. Philips have tried to make these headphones sound better than they really are by adding more treble but it just makes music sound tinny at times. Most of the time though its acceptable.

The headphones are made from plastic, just like everything else nowadays. The build quality is pretty good although make sure you adjust them properly to your head size because if you overstretch them they feel very uncomfortable and the headband looks as if its about to snap. They’re very comfy if theyre adjusted properly and I could easily wear these for hours without discomfort. Don’t wear these with wet hair though because the pads just get soggy… not that you’ll ever wear these in the bath… I lead a strange life…

All in all a very average pair of headpgones. Great for TV use but could do better for music or HiFi use. Decently made and comfortable. Good value for m

I received the Philips SHP2500 Corded Headphones on New Year’s Eve 48 hours after ordering them and do exactly what I wanted them to do – allow private listening to a TV without disturbing others. Ideal for those with impaired hearing who might normally have to turn up the volume control or for flat dwellers, bedroom use, late night/early morning listening etc. It’s useful that they come with a 3.5mm – 6.3mm adaptor since my modern Sharp LCD flat screen TV requires a 3.5mm jackplug. Unusually good frequency range for the price and the long 6 metre cord is a real bonus. Headband is adjustable and phones nicely padded. As a classical music lover for some 50 years with high grade Hi-Fi equipment, I don’t put these phones in the same category as the superior grade noise cancelling Sennheisers and similar but they are pretty close plus there is an in-line volume control. I congratulate Philips for their practical design. Superb value for money.

I disagree about the problem with the 6m of cable. I am greatful that they give this, I cannot stand it when headphone cable isn’t long enough. So these are excellent if sitting from a long distance away and I want to chill and listen to my music through Hi-Fi or watch a dvd etc. I now own three pairs of these for three rooms, their comfortable, sound good enough and well worth the price. Recommended to anyone who just wants a good strong pair of headphones for home use.

This was fairly described by previous reviewers. For me the bass is too prominent for solely listening to music, but fine for general listening. The generous cord length means you can sit anywhere and still hear dialogue and quiet effects, and if others can hear via the normal speakers then everyone is satisfied.
