I was conned into buying one of these, along with the even more outrageously described ’30x’ ‘Gold’ loupe.

Yes the ’20x ‘Triplet’ does magnify a bit, and it has a wider field than many basic loupes. But if any of the reviewers who have given this such high praise had already a proper 20x loupe in their posession they would not be at all impressed!

There is one similarly high praising review of the Gold loupe, but I only just noticed the comment attached that puts the power more at 8x. Personally I would have put it at around 3x. This ’20x’ chrome is a little less powerful than my proper 10x loupe. I think that Triplet is using the same lenses in each device and banking on few buyers knowing what they are supposed to expect.

Go and try a proper 20x loupe all you ‘satisfied’ reviewers; then you really will be impressed!

And in future don’t touch ‘Triplet’ with a barge pole!

at first i gave it a try but was wondering why is it so cheap. now i have my answer! the image is distorted with kind of ‘halos’ sorrounding everithing. not good for nothing besides reading serial numbers on girdles.

This jeweller’s loupe is good if you want to see a large hallmark but for smaller ones I have had quite a bit of difficulty in seeing some of them clearly with this loupe – it needs to be a stronger magnification. I’ve got sharp vision so people whose vision isn’t as good will have more trouble than I did in seeing the hallmarks. But, it is still a good product and the chrome finish gives it an appealing appearance:)

Having bought this loupe along with a x10 I would put the magnification at around x10 – definitely not a x20!! I now have bought a real x20 and there is no comparison. The only reason for the 2 stars is that the field of view is quite large, much better than my now redundant x10.

Good price, good little product. I’ve seen some negative reviews, but I Guess it depends on your use for it. I just take it out on my walks to look at bugs/plants up close and it suits my needs.
