Starting with the basics: it does exactly what it says on the box.

Over Skype it provides amazingly high quality phone calls. I use it a lot for long distance Skype calls and it is awesome.

Much more comfortable than a headset and much more convenient than a handset.

The folks at Polycom also did a really nice job when it comes to the design and build. It looks and feels like a professional bit of kit, it is small, convenient and intuitive to use.

One word of advice – and this isn’t a negative for the communicator because it needs to be so compact – consider a USB cable extension. At times it is convenient to be able to move it further from the computer.

Definitely recommend it.

I recently purchased the Polycom Communicator to reduce my cost of dialing into conference calls. I work in Europe and using a mobile to access UK based conference calls can be very expensive. The communicator is simple to setup with your PC and Skype account and the sounds quality is excellent.

I now use the device fore all my conference calls it is really good and if you use a feephone number the calls cost nothing from anywhere, globally. I even used the device on a recent trip to India from my hotel room. A 1 hour conference call to the US cost me nothing, just the price of the internet connection in the room, $10.

I use it with both PC and Mac and the feedback from other people on the call is also good. They say the microphone speech quality is clear. Quite often I will have 5 or 6 people around the device on calls and it works very well.

Occasionally the digital signal breaks down and you get fading but this is getting better.

Overall well worth the investment. It is even a good speaking if you want to listen to music from your iTunes on your laptop.Polycom Communicator (Grey)

This is a good product. Sound quality is excellent. The only thing to keep in mind is that despite prommising to release vista drivers since late 2006 (Polycom’s first stated estimate for this was q4 2007, which then was extended to q4 2008), Polycom still has not done so (when ideally they ought to have produce the vista drivers while it was in beta). It does ‘sort of’ work with Vista, but not to its full potential (hard to adjust as the diagnostic and setup tools cant see it). Polycom don’t have a clue when they are going to introduce vista support either. Amazon should probably mention that it only officially supports XP. Otherwise a great product.

This is fantastic. The sound quality is stunning. Very easy to set up and use. Can only be used with Skype, so expensive for limited VOIP access, but still amazing.

The unit worked brilliantly for 2 weeks and then went faulty (PC unable to detect it and red lights displayed permanently). I contacted Ligo and returned it as per their instructions on 31st August. After chasing I received an Email from Ligo on 13th October stating they were experiencing delays with their systems. I have chased them since and have not had any response as of today 27th November.
