Warning! This film comes complete with gratuitous nude shower scene!

A monkey/rat hybrid creature escapes from its cage and goes on a murderous rampage, offing many scantily clad women and a few bad actors as well. Luckily American mystery writer Fred Williams(played by British national treasure David Warbeck) is at hand to do a bit of amateur sleuthing.
The worlds smallest actor Nelson De La Rosa plays Ratman with a set of Ken Dodd gnashers, and Ratman is an amazingly prolific serial killer, jumping on unsuspecting victims from the tops of wardrobes or from inside a fridge.
This film really is pretty bad, but is so enjoyable, you can wallow in the bad acting and ludicrous story without feeling a twinge of guilt. You will probably be asking by the end why they didnt just set a trap for the bloody rodent
I could really have just saved a couple of paragraphs, and just told you to go out and buy this immediatly. Otherwise your life will not be complete. Top exploitation fare. 4 out of 5

Firstly, it’s not fair to give this film a 1 star review based on the fact you’ve received the wrong product. You can’t review a film until you’ve seen it. End of.

Now, on to my review and, rest assured, I have seen the film! Ratman is trash. Pure and simple. But it’s the very best kind of trash there is. It’s sleaze, silliness and gore with ropey special effects and even ropier acting. The results should be horrible but, somehow they just aren’t. Instead, Ratman is like a love letter to trash cinema and manages to be the funniest thing ever.

I should mention that the picture quality on this releases isn’t mind-blowing. Apparently the only print Shameless could get hold of was in terrible condition but they have done the best they possibly could. It’s nowhere near up to the standards of their excellent release of The Frightened Woman but, in a film this trashy, grainy picture only adds to the effect!

If you’re not a fan of trash cinema, avoid at all costs, but, if you like a bit of so-bad-it’s-good-action then you can’t get much better than Ratman!
