I bought this after my expensive Hifi broke, it does everything that did and more.

Although the surround sound scares my cat, the effect is brilliant in Dolby 5.1, and the bass has real oomph. Like the earlier reviewer, I found the speaker wire too short for the rear speakers, but it wasn’t rocket science to join extra speaker wire on to extend the leads, and as there is no plug at the speaker end, this was no problem.

I love how verstaile the unit is, as well as Dolby for my TV, it plays my CDs, DVD’s, gets FM radio, and i can even plug in a USB stick, with a couple of albums from my PC hard drive. I havent tried the Bluetooth yet, but I will.

I had been promising myself a home cinema system for a while and always found myself coming back to this unit as I was particularly interested in the wireless rear speaker capabilities. After reading several quite favourable reviews I took the plunge and ordered in conjunction with the SWA4000 wireless unit. Excellent delivery, within 48 hrs.

Im no techie or electrical expert but I have to say that setting up the unit was really straightforward and the colour coding really helps. I found the wireless rear speaker set up an absolute doddle, having to do no more than plug the supplied card into the DVD receiver and power up the unit. I found the auto calibration feature to be superb and a real bonus.

Quality of the sound seems tip top to me, bear in mind I didnt have any prior systems so I guess its going to sound fab to me anyways. Only tiny issues I had was working out how to plumb all my gear together and I had to do a few searches on the web to assist so I think it would be good to explain here how I set mine up for the benefit of others.

Bear in mind my TV has 2 x HDMI ports, I had to purchase a splitter cable.

1. Samsung unit linked direct via HDMI to TV

2. SKY + HD Box linked via HDMI to splitter/TV + Optical lead to Samsung unit (Select D/IN)

3. XBOX 360 Linked via HDMI to splitter/TV + the official xbox audio cable convertor to Samsung (Select Aux2)

This set-up gives me great sounds and effects. Only hiccup I had was seemingly losing my rear speakers on sky and xbox until I read the instructions properly and realised I hadnt set the sound set up to MATRIX from the hand controller. Doh!

Overall, Im really, really impressed in terms of value for money. Maybe if your a Hi Fi afficiando then you would pick holes in the units performance but I guess if your expecting Ferrari Enzo performance from a Ford Fiesta then your being a bit daft.

The unit is slick and stylish and looks the part. The sound quality was breath taking at times when I watched blu rays which exploded into life in my living room! As with the previous reviewer, the very small issue of the rear speaker cable length can be very easily remedied and doe not warrant giving the product less than 5 stars taking into account price and sound quality. Also, if you are connecting this to a blu ray player, ps3, sky box etc. then connect and optical cable directly to the unit to experience full 5.1 Dolby Digital surround sound. Then use phono leads to connect your TV to the unit because freeview only outputs in stereo and then adjust the setting to get sound out of all the speakers.

Bought this system along with the Samsung Wireless rear speaker module.

Very easy to put together and install but make sure you have an optical cable to link your Sky to the DVD amp and a new HDMI to link the DVD amp to your TV.

The sound is fantastic and the bass is really unbelievable.

I also have a PS3 linked. You have to use the left and right audio cable that came with the PS3, you can’t use a scart or HDMI as the amp does not have digital inputs other than optical. This would be my only complaint but the cable that comes with the PS3 is fine. Just don’t attach the video(yellow) cable.

Other than that is awesome!
