Product Description
This kit provides everything you need to connect up your Sky digibox or Freesat receiver. It includes the NEW Mk4 Raven Sky minidish (size 59cm width x 43cm height) and the new style Sky compact quad LNB, along with brackets and four bolts for wall mounting (if you want to pole mount it you need the V-bolt which is an optional extra). The new dish is slightly larger for better reception and general performance. It also has pre-built brackets, so you don’t need to bolt them together – they just fold out and snap into place. The LNB is fitted with the new bracket for this dish which holds it securely with no “wobble”. The 20m of Twin cable is CT63, highest quality approved cable, along with 4 F-connectors, 20 double cable clips and 12″ of self amalgamating tape for a final waterproofed finish. We also include a wall cover plate and hole tidy grommet for a professional finish. The kit components are matched for guaranteed performance. We also include our Satgear alignment instructions and dish setup diagram. The dish is a Zone 1 dish, not guaranteed to work in Scotland or Ireland, although the new larger size makes it better than the previous minidish, so it should be fine for most UK locations. It is ideal for upgrading to Sky+ or Freesat where you want to provide extra capacity to watch up to four channels at a time on dual-tuner boxes (Sky+ or Humax HDR Freesat+) or just to add additional receivers.

  • Complete kit for installing Sky or Freesat – 4 channels – everything you need to connect to receiver
  • New Mk4 Raven Minidish, Quad LNB, 20m of Twin core top quality CT63 cable & fixings & hole tidies
  • Wall bolts and bracket assembly for wall mounting & Satgear instructions, easy self-installation
  • Matched components for guaranteed performance – HD Ready, 4 simultaneous channels
  • Ideal for Sky+ or Freesat+ to watch one channel while recording another or for adding more receivers

This kit has everything you need apart from a satellite finder (I ordered the Konig – also from amazon) and a receiver (I bought a humax foxsat PVR to get freesat). fixing the dish together and putting it up was a doddle. The difficult bit was actually finding the right satellite. I struggled with this for a few hours – which including a lot of time wondering if I’d connected the wires up properly and trying to use a compass to get the right bearing. In the end there were only 2 steps necessary. Point the dish to the east then slowly move it towards the south until the satellite finder indicates you are pointing at a satellite. Once you’ve found the maximum, just tighten everything up. This seems to be the easiest way to do it, as apparently the Astra satellite is the first satellite you should come across as you move the dish from the east to the south. After having previously spent hours messing around with azimuths, elevations and skew, believe me, this method was a lot simpler and I now get a 100% strength signal. A point to note with the humax is that if you get a strong signal, but with 0% quality you are pointing at the wrong satellite. In summary, this kit is great – just remember to buy a satellite finder.

Purchased this kit to install my own satellite system and, with full instructions included, it was very easy to do. All very straightforward and in next to no time, used in conjunction with a Konig satellite finder purchased at the same time, we were receiving great pictures on our new Humax receiver. Nothing difficult about it at all, and this kit is great value.

Excellent sat-dish easy to put together and install with good clear instructions , the benefit of having a quad LNB means you can add additional recievers in different rooms , i do have a small criticism though to do with the cable that comes with the kit ( hence 4 stars out of 5 ), its quite thin and has an aluminium brading & foil shielding ( not as good as one with copper shielding ), and my understanding is that this type of cable is really only suitable for short runs of upto 10m , plus if your not connecting the cable to an PVR then you will not require twin cable in any case , so bear this in mind , other than that the kit provides everything you will need for a perfect install .. PS . The kit also comes with a small strip of self amalgamating tape , which is very important for sealing the f-connectors to the LNB against water ingress .

Basically all you need to connect to satellite TV except a sat-finder (you will find it much easier if you get one of these) and of course a receiving box.

I had done some reading on the internet before attempting a self install and this helped alot. The instructions were not as clear as they could have been and if you are a complete novice you might struggle a little bit. In particular the instructions for putting the dish together are not specific to this dish and although you can work it out it would have been better to include the specific instructions which are available as a free download from the dish manufacturers website.

The supplier does however provide a telephone advice number so if you have any difficulties they will no doubt do all they can to help out. I had to ring it once and they returned my call within 5 minutes.

The cable supplied is piggyback satellite cable enabling you to connect to a quad LNB and receive two satellite channels simultaneously – you can then watch two different channels at the same time or record one and watch another. However this type of cable is only suitable for short runs up to, I think, 20 metres. Anything longer and you will need to buy single cable seperately.

You will need masonry drill bits (10mm for the satellite bracket & 16mm for the cable hole. You could use a smaller drill bit for the latter but the plastic cable tidy that is provided needs a 16mm hole on the inside wall) and remember when drilliing the cable hole to drill from the inside of the house to the outside. As a tip – turn off the hammer action before hitting the outside of the outer wall and you should prevent any brick blow out.

It is also advisable to have some silcone sealent available to seal the cable hole once you have completed the set up.

Overall a good piece of kit. Would have been 5 stars if the instructions had been clearer.

I found this satellite kit excellent value for money – there has been a tremendous amount of thought put into compiling the instructions which are thorough, concise and written in plain english – nothing is left out – even the co-ordinates for all satellites and helpful website addresses – this kit is put together by enthusiasts who understand the likely pitfalls that you are liable to encounter – I heartily recommend it for novices like myself and indeed anyone who wants a good quality picture with the minimum of fuss
