Got the new shuffle when it first came out but being a bit of an audio geek I just couldn’t get on with the rubbish buds with the built in controls that came with it, so I consigned the shuffle to my drawer.

Then I saw this tapstick, which allows me to use my own buds (klipsh custom 3’s) and also made the controls a lot easier to use as the buttons are bigger.

Admittedly the shuffle isn’t necessarily the best MP3 for those who really appreciate better quality music, but the tapstick makes the experience of the shuffle a lot more user friendly.

Highly recommended.

Having got through two of the poorly built Belkin adapters (Belkin Headphone Adaptor and Remote Control for iPod Shuffle, I was a little nervous about this device at first. Even now, I hope I’m not tempting fate. But, it seems to do an excellent job. The iPod sits securely inside the shell and the buttons are substantial enough to use even when I’m wearing my running gloves. There may be a couple of objections from folks: the controls are now on the iPod instead of by your ear (if you could make the Apple buds fit) and you can’t turn it off when it’s in the case. Neither bother me, as a runner, I clip this to the top of my shorts and it’s very accessible and since I reload or change playlists on my shuffle practically every run, it’s seldom far away from my Mac and power. The only mark against this (and it’s a minor one) is that you can’t sync or charge your shuffle while it’s in this adapter. It’s a very minor thing (maybe not even worth a whole star demerit), but if it could do that, my ipod would live in that case permanently.

I brought this product for my 7 year old son. He had an ipod shuffle for Christmas (one of the new generation where the controls are on the headphone wire) the earphones wouldn’t fit into his ears so was told about this product. I purchaced it, and was really pleased when it arrived. My son can wear over the head style headphones now and be able to use his shuffle perfectly. I just found the price rather expensive for something so tiny (although very affective) and feel Apple are in the wrong by not offering their own version to their customers at a lower price when purchaced with an ipod. Not everyone has `adult sized ears` and they should cater for their younger customers or in the very least offer an alternative.

Makes the new Ipod shuffle better. Whoever thought having no external controls on the unit itself and having to use Apples own “drop out your ear” earbuds was progress, needs a good slapping! If you want to make the most of the robotic sounding song/artist voiceover, get one of these..
