I have recently purchased this amazing Sony BDV-370 Home cinema system and was totally happy once I had set this system up. The surround sound quality is really impressive when played through a high spec full HD 1080 TV which I had purchased also a while back. One small minus point was the length of the 2 front speaker wires, which I did find were just long enough to reach the position of my 2 front speakers, but the rear speaker cables were plenty long enough which was good as this was where I believed I was going to have the problem. The set-up of the system is not too hard to master and this was my first experience of blu-ray capabilities and this system has totally blown me away having replaced my old AKAI system which was 13 years old. One other point to note is that sony have not brought out any new speaker stands to go with any of the 2010 cinema systems yet but I got round this by using my old stands which fitted my new speakers fine but as they were silver in colour I had the small job of spraying them black first. All in all a excellent system when used to its full capacity and as it plays all formats of dvd/avi/mp3/mp4 ect files this is a major plus when watching movies through it. If you are thinking of replacing an old system like I was then I would recommend spending a few extra pounds and buying the best make around in sony. shop around on amazon as ths price for this system differed by atleast £100 between the sellers I looked at.

Pro’s

The sound is fantastic. In full 5.1 and enhanced stereo.

The shockingly small speakers are descrete.

The remote can switch on/off, change vol, and change input to my Panasonic TV.

The subwoofer creates cinema feel and system is loud enough to scare us.

The internet BBCIplayer is very useful.

Con’s

The speaker wires are still too short. I will have to find a way of extending them. Why can’t the big manufactures spend pence on making really long wires that we can just trim down to suit.

The wireless dongle that Sony sell to accompany their Bluray players does not operate at more than 5 metres from the router. This renders it useless and had to be sent back. If you require wireless operation then forget this system. I will have to hardwire ethernet connection at considerable cost.

The on screen/front panel(very small) split of controls is not intuitive.

I have had this DVD, sorry Blu-Ray player and home cinema system for about a week now and I still haven’t managed to play and fiddle with all the different settings! This system sounds fantastic and also delivers a brilliant picture and was very easy to set up, it even comes with a mic, so it can adjust its own sound and make sure it is delivering the sound to a premium. As has already been stated it sounds great with audio CD’s and you can also plug in your ipod which also delivers a high quality sound, my one gripe with this is that it doesn’t seem to play the video’s that are on your ipod, but then as I have said I haven’t had a chance to fully explore all the settings on this system yet, so it wouldn’t surprise me if it was something I was doing wrong.

This system does take a while to start up but this can be altered in the setting menu, although it does mention that a fan will have to run as well.

Another slight problem I found was that although I did use a HDMI connection to my TV because I wasn’t setting it up to a Sony TV (I have a 42″ Toshiba)initially the system wouldn’t play the normal TV through the speakers and I had to buy a ‘Digital Audio Optical Cable’ to connect which was very straight forward, but obviously is an extra cost, a point to note on this is that a certain well known electrical shop wanted either £39.99 or £49.99 for one of these but as always you can save a fortune if you shop around and buy it else where, just note that you may need one when you place your order so it can arrive at the same time.

Would I reccomend this product? Definately and being able to upgrade it to 3D in the future (which I am told by Sony will be via a free download) future proofs it nicely and if it last 10 years like my ols Sony system which the kids now have as it is still going strong it will be worth every penny.

What can I say about this piece of equipment but awesome. First of all the sound quality is excellent almost too good, it really is like having a cinema at your own house the rumbles that good. But it can also be a problem as even on the lower settings explosions and stuff still have that punch and the walls seem to vibrate(first time watching and it could be heard all around the house). Theres also a vairety of options as well so weathier your watching it for sports news or movies you can select different sound settings as well for the best experience. Loading up can take a few seconds longer than a normal dvd player but it does give you excellence. visuals good as well, well its blu ray so what do you expect, but not just the blu ray normal dvds as well look really good such as cartoons it trys and scales them up and smooth it out best it can with minimul pixelation as I’ve found some others can’t do. The only thing that I don’t like about the sytem is the fact alot of the surfaces of the equipment is that gloss that more or less scratches when you touch or try to clean it. But a part from that its all good. This review is based on a sony bravia tv.

I’ve just received this amazing home cinema system. Had a few similar products before, but this is truly unique. Looks brilliant and works perfectly. Straight after getting it I played Super Audio CD by Diana Krall and could not believe, simply could not believe how amazing it sounded.

If you have a few hundred pounds and want all-in-one system with 3D ready FULL HD, Super Audio CD, Internet Video, great looks and great sound, then simply get it.
