I ordered via Amazon.UK a Sony walkman CD player that reads CDs recorded in MP3 format. It is for my 94 year old mother to listen to archaeological and other reports that I get as podcasts.

It arrived within 2 days from kkelectronics and works perfectly. We are very happy with it, especially the fact that once stopped, it resumes where it was stopped, very useful when there are a hundred or so MP3 tracks, or 30 or so hours recorded. The radio works well too.

However, there was no AC adaptor in the pack. The Amazon advert stated that there is an AC adaptor included in the box.

I emailed kkelectronics about this and got the following reply.

“Hi

Amazon listing is incorrect-if look in the leaflet with the product,it lists what is included in the pack

you can return it for full refund

regards

jawar”

I don’t want to return it for a full refund. My mother loves this little machine. The machine itself deserves a 5 out of 5. However we now have to spend another 20 pounds on top of the machines original 38 pounds cost to get a Sony AC adaptor that the Amazon advert said was included.

Because of this I only rate this Sony D-NF340 MP3 CD Walkman at 3 stars

I bought this for my father, who cannot read now and had to switch to audiobooks. He is quite happy with the player. A nice feature is that he can stop his book, listen to FM news or something, and then resume from the same place. But the controls were not easy to use for the first days.

I bought the system on amazon.uk as far as I can’t find the product in France. It is very robust, good working, beautiful sound, very nice radio on FM, very easy to use, economical with the batteries. Two criticisms : The cd player is a bit noisy… the CD text does not work on traditionnal CDs (but ok on MP3). I think I would buy another one, if necessary. I have had other CD players from other manufacturers, really not so good…

I bought my first Sony D-NF340 MP3 in August 2007. It worked well until November 2008 (when just out of guarantee). I ordered another one that month – this, too, has now proved faulty (March 2009). The cd playing mode is certainly slightly noisy, but the radio is excellent and I use a charger and Sony MDR-EX7ISL headphones with superior sound – essential as I do not sleep well and listen a lot in bed. For this reason, I am about to order yet another one, but enquire whether I can pay for an extended insurance. I am very careful with it and would expect a Sony product to be more reliable. This is the reason I have given a rating of only three stars.

I bought this cd player for my dad as he has emphasema and cataracts so his quality of life is now compromised. I recently bought him a subscribtion to an audio book club and needed an mp3 formatted player to listen to them on. This one is very reasonably priced and is perfect for listening to the story cd’s as when stopped it keeps the place so you can resume the story from where you left off.

The only slight negative was the earphones as my dad prefers the head band type but as he already had a couple of these, there wasn’t a real problem.
