I was comparing this bag with the Targus XL backpack, both cost about the same price, the Targus one has got more positive reviews, but I finally go for Swissgear because I trust the brand a bit more. And I am not disappointed!

As the previous review said, this bag is really designed for most 17 inch laptop, for my laptop Sony AR61M which is extra large(about 1 or 2 cm wider and longer than other friends’ 17′ laptop), It is a bit tight. But having such a big and heavy computer I really don’t move it around much, only occasionally going to college or back home. I bought this backpack also for carrying textbooks, other heavy stuff etc, when not carrying an laptop. And this versatile backpack indeed suits my purpose.

Okay, if you do have an extra large laptop like me, and you don’t like a tight fit, go for the Targus one. That backpack gives more room for the laptop. Otherwise buy this one! Much better style, built quality than Targus.

oh, just to mention my computer’s size here in case someone needs it:

41.6 cm length

30.0 cm width

4.9 cm height

I was looking for a well made rucksack that would carry all my various odds and sods. I tend to carry a lot, when I’m travelling and this rucksack fits the bill perfectly.

There is a padded and strapped compartment for your laptop and a multitude of different sized pockets for the other bits and pieces you need to carry.

I have loaded this with nearly 15Kg of equipment without a stuggle and it’s always been comfortable to wear and use.

The whole thing is well made and I can see this lasting for years.

Excellent laptop, loads of compartments and pockets for stuff. The laptop padded bit is only 3/4 length, and on my 17in Sony Vaio AR-51E, it’s quite a tight fit heightwise with the corners not having great protection on the top edge of the bag, these 2 points I can only give it a 4/5

Other than this, excellent.

The bag is perfect in almost everyway. It has good protection for the laptop with plenty of padding. The zips are strong and won’t come undone. The material feels and looks durable. And it looks pretty good.

But its heavy, very heavy compared to many other laptop bags. The space is also limited and this is defintly not a traveler type bag (i.e. books and stationary are fine).

The pros definitly outweight the cons. But is perahps not the best choice for traveling long distances, the extra weight of the bag becomes noticable.
