DIY Straws – Bumper Pack

DIY Straws - Bumper Pack

Create your very own maze of liquid with these DIY Straws – surely the most enjoyable way to share drinks since that weird arm-linking manoeuvre they do with champagne in the movies. You know the one. Anyway this mammoth 40-piece set is full of different lengths of straws and various connectors so that you can construct the most elaborate of routes for your cordial to travel on. If you’ve got friends over and only one glass (any students reading will be familiar with this situation) then just whack out the DIY Straws! Even if you’ve got more glasses than the Queen Vic there’s no better way to use them than filling them with the most colourful drink you have (as you can see we went for cranberry juice) and sucking the living daylights out of them. Slightly batty but all the better for it.

Tube Map Mirror

Posted by Notcot on Aug 2, 2012 in Gadgets
Tube Map Mirror

The London Tube Map is probably the most iconic schematic* map ever drawn. Despite being topographically inaccurate this lifeline to understanding how to go where in London has become a classic work of art. Nowhere has it been better represented than in this achingly cool wall mirror from those award wining London designers at Suck U.K. The London Underground map was the brain child of Harry Beck (a London Transport employee in 1931) who realised that drawing an accurate map of the tube system would just confuse the heck out of us all. His graphic schematic (which rhymes so beautifully) has become famous the world over and been copied again and again for other underground systems all over the planet. This sizeable 75cm long mirror comes with steel wall brackets and screws for mounting and is quite possibly the most chic hall or wall mirror in circulation. *Schematic means it’s a representational diagram as opposed to a topographical map (i.e. it’s shape bears no relation to reality). Solid glass mirror with gold-coloured depiction of the London Underground Map. The designer’s clever screen printing process creates the illusion that the mirror itself is etched with the map. All zones featured on the Tube Map. Steel brackets and screws for wall mounting are included. Makes a trendy but functional room feature for ‘Londonites’ and Train spotters alike. Size: 75 x 52 x 0.6cm This product is glass so you know the drill… don’t go throwing stuff at it it’s fragile.

  • Gift – Home & Office

Price : £ 74.99

V Gauge Wine Preserver

Posted by Notcot on Jun 10, 2012 in Gadgets
V Gauge Wine Preserver

Sometimes you just fancy one glass of wine but don’t want to waste the rest of the bottle. The V Gauge is the wine stopper that puts an end to waste. What makes it stand out from other wine stoppers is that it has its own built-in pressure gauge. ‘Why on earth do you need a gauge?’ we hear you cry. Most wine stoppers work just fine but they all have one fatal flaw – when the vacuum deteriorates oxygen seeps into the wine and before you know it your bottle of plonk has magically transformed into vinegar. The V Gauge is quite staggeringly simple to use (we bought a bottle of wine in the interest of research to test it out) – you just pop it in the top of the bottle pump out the air with the vacuum pump (included) and watch the needle on the gauge swing into the red. Once it’s there you can stop pumping knowing that the there’s enough of a vacuum to keep your wine fresh for ages. The best part is that you’ll be able to see when the vacuum needs to be topped up as the needle will start dropping out of the red. There’s no greater sin than wasted wine so keep your vino fresh with the V Gauge.

Sun Jar Solar Lamp

Posted by Notcot on May 24, 2012 in Gadgets
Sun Jar Solar Lamp

A jam jar stores jam, so the Sun Jar stores… yep! SUN! We all appreciate ecologically friendly lighting, and even more so when its safe, free to keep running, and as mystically atmospheric as the Sun Jar Solar Light! Simply leave the jar on a sunny window or in a bright room and the jar magically stores the light ready to release it again automatically turning on when it gets dark. The jars are waterproof allowing them to be used outdoors as well as indoors (though when not being used they should be kept inside). The frosted glass produces a magical effect, hiding all the equipment inside the jar but allowing the light to radiate as a soft orange glow (much like a candle), making it look as if the sun really has been caught.
