Another uncut release, after decades of unavailability in the UK, this was one of H. G. Lewis’ last gore epics. The plot, set in and around a strip-club, concerns the string of murders of beautiful young girls….that’s original! The acting is as terrible as ever, but in this case, the male/female lead duo pull off some entertaining performances, and both seem to be having fun, so it makes this one of Lewis’ more watcheable films. But the scenes of murder on display here are worse than ever, with one girl’s head being rubbed in a broken mirror, another’s being held under boiling oil in a kitchen fryer, a hot iron is pressed into a face, and of course, the famous scene of a girl’s nipples being cut off with scissors. Writing it down, it all sounds appalling, but on viewing, it actually strikes you as ridiculous, especially as the sickest moments are accompanied by rousing brass band music! Trust me, this has to be seen to be believed.
Other highlights are the hilarious scenes set in a strip club where the dozy strippers are interviewed in search of clues, while the strip routines themselves are jaw-droppingly bad, guaranteed to make you laugh, so if you can stomach the grosser than gross atrocities on display, you will not be disappointed. One last thing, all the Tartan DVD HG Lewis films come with the film trailer as an extra and this is definitely one of the funniest.

After decades of being banned, UK viewers can finally start seeing the blood drenched movies of H. G. Lewis, and he really goes all out in this film, one of his last gore epics. The plot, set in and around a strip-club, concerns the string of murders of beautiful young girls….that’s original! But the scenes of murder on display here go way beyond the usual horror flick fayre, with one girl’s head being held under boiling oil in a kitchen fryer, and another’s being slammed into a broken mirror, We also get to see a hot iron being pressed into a face, and the famous scene of a girl’s nipples being cut off with scissors. It all sounds appalling, but on viewing, it actually strikes you as ridiculous, which is something of a relief! The rest of the film concerns the “Keystone Cops” style hunt for the killer by a male-female partnership, which, for a change(as some non-gore scenes in many of Lewis’ films are tedious beyond belief), is pretty entertaining on its own, as are the hilarious scenes where the dozy strippers are interviewed in search of clues. Incidentally, the Z-grade scenes of the girls actually performing strip shows in the club are absolutely priceless, and bound to bring the house down (with laughter) when watched. If you like a good turkey of a movie and can stomach the grosser than gross atrocities on display, you will be in for a trash treat.
