What you would need to do to upgrade to Sky+

If you are prepared to get up a ladder and run an extra cable to the Sky Plus receiver, It is pretty straight forward.

To upgrade a standard Sky installation to a Sky Plus installation.

All you need to do is to change the LNB on the dish, for a quad LNB (very cheap to buy on Amazon) this is because a Sky Plus receiver has two tuners, both of which work completely independent of each other and therefore need a separate feed from the dish.

Run a cable from one of the spare ports on the LNB to the Sky Plus receiver, you will then have the two feeds required for the Sky Plus receiver.

Contact Sky and inform them you now have a Sky Plus receiver, they will then activate your card for you.

If you do not subscribe to Sky you will NOT be able to record.

A Sky plus receiver can be used as a normal Sky receiver with just one input. However you will NOT be able to record If you do not subscibe! Simply connect the LNB feed into LNB input 1.

The LNB supplied is a quad LNB, this actually has four independent outputs, so you will have two spare, if you want you can move your existing Sky receiver to another room and connect it to one of the spare outputs from the quad LNB. You can then get a second viewing card from Sky.
