Excellant camera for price, Has feautures on it that some camera of £100 plus don’t have.

1. The camera does not pause and save each camera shot as a file, HOWEVER this makes editing the film footage on PC/Mac a lot easier allow you to pic and choose what sections of film to put in. You only need a pause feature of tape camcorders to get a clean change over, and not having to find you position on the tape.

2. The snugg fitting covers for the socket, protect the sockets from damage and prevents small debris particles getting in.

Handy timer feature for taking pictures, it comes with all all HDMI (High Def), USB and power cables. Some camera over £100 don’t offer all these features. This camera also doubles up as a digital camera. All footage is recorded on a SD card. I have just bought a 8gb card which gives me about 3hr video footage time. Come with everything (cable/software) to hook upto pc. Gone those annoying days of having to watch every minute of an event whilst it copies onto computer. Video files transfer onto pc within minutes (Have just completed a 2hr recording and transferred to computer in 10minutes.

Easy to edit film footage using provided Toshiba software or Windows Media Movie Maker. Very easy to chop/snip out footage you don’t need before placing onto DVD or just data disc.

No complex driver to install, works straight away onto computer, However you do need a computer machine with reasonable RAM/Memory capacity. I am very computer literate, but people who are not computer literate could use this camera and transfer footage VERY easily. I was showing my 4year old son, how to transfer and he has just done it himself (HONEST TRUTH).

I have in the past had far more expensive cameras and the sound/pciture quality have often been worse.

I also often spent hrs transferring tape footage onto disc/computer. I have just done a recording of over hrs. for our church and popped it onto hard-drive in less that 10minutes.

I had budget £100 for a camera, and even then I had money left over to buy a sd memory card, and a usb sd card reader.

So, summing up, great camera for less than £100 and have money left over, easy to use. Lightwieght (Weighs less than my digital camera). It doubles up a a video camera. No need to take a video camera and a digital camera (Why take 2 bottles into the shower when you can take one!!!).

Hope this review has helped. Also this camera is a lot more expensive in a well known high street catoluge store.

Now its upto you to decided which camera you go for.

The camileo s10 is a super camcorder -given it’s price. Reviews elsewhere have criticiised the s10 for it’s weak performance when filming indoors. Admittedly, the quality does drop-off -but so do most if not all pocket cams at this priice ! For a camcorder less than £100 i wasn’t expecting to get a job filming for BBC HD ! And most hd camcorders NEED daylight to show it’s quality & this is where the s10 excels. The toshiba camileo s10 is pencil thin & about the size of a mobile phone. To be able to produce near full hd given it’s size is astounding ! Memory cards are needed as internal capacity is tiny. And stability is an issue when filming at 1080. For those looking to make the leap from standard to hi-def filming- within budget- this comes highly recommended. Just look at the video results on youtube !

Very easy to use, easy to learn and you can put it in the littlest bag, little like a phone. Not for long recording but ideal for little video.

Great shopping.

This little camera is a gem. The video playback quality on my HD TV and computer is amazing.I live in Spain and first used it around Cartagena in superb light admittedly but was stunned when I played it back. I have also used it in the home during the evening and only noticed a reduction in quality on zoom. For the price it is a steal and I am looking forward to using it when I travel on the AVE to Sevilla.

I bought three of these cameras after reading various reviews on the web.

These were bought for the purpose of a corporate awayday, so the review encompasses the views of many people who used them during the day.

These cameras are poor for the following reasons…

1) The camera does not pause during recording. Instead, it saves a file and creates a new file every time you stop recording, ver frustratinf if you want continuous footage, but not seperate files.

2) The camera microphone is horrenously poor. Even close-up sound is quiet and the tinny in quality.

3) When you start recording, it takes about 5 seconds for the sound to fade in. So you miss the first few seconds of audio footage every time you start recording – very annoying.

5) The doors that house the sockets for the wires are very very snug and take a long time to open them, even for those with long fingernails.

6) The build quality is poor, or possibly just about acceptable, either way, its lightweightedness means you get a very poor build quality.

The only positive for this camera that i can find is that a HD picture for < £100 is pretty good, but there will be better cameras for the same money on the market, I am sure.
Avoid this camera, do not buy it.

Thanks

Richard
