The SD490 gives a beautiful picture via Hdmi. It plays Avi files, even Avi subtitles too, which none of my other players do. And to top it off, it looks good.
The only thing I wish it had was Digital Optical out for the Audio, instead it has a Coaxial out for separate Audio. But that’s not really a problem.
Don’t know what else to say. The picture is excellent as is the sound, and that’s what counts. So, if it has what you’re looking for in a player, then I’d definitely recommend it.

Excellent quality picture and easy to use and make multi-region. But it stopped working after only three weeks.
Amazon were brilliant and gave me a refund without any problems. Like the player, but would hesitate to before buying another Toshiba.

This is an excellent product. Cheap and cheerful and all anyone would need really. No bells and whistles. Easy to set up. Good picture and sound quality. Nice sleek appearance too. It does exactly what it says on the tin. I would recommend this to anyone!

Just purchased this DVD player. It was the same price as the popular but lower model SD390EKB. Used it several times and very happy so far. Easy to setup and works great with my 37″ Sony LCD. I think it’s a great deal at this price.
Update on 29/3/2010: After a few weeks of use, unfortunately this player has stopped working while I was using it. Sending it back for a refund and now shopping for a better quality player.

Have had a SD490EKB for six months and has now stopped working.
No Troubleshooting will work. Very disapointed in product as when it was working it was excellend picture and sound. Would not recommend to anyone
