Very small and light when folded, but is very firm when extended. I use if for videoing live jazz music from the middle of a crowded audiance when I need to hold the camera still for 5 minutes or more. It is ideal for this and the best monopod I have ever owned, I carry a ball head with me but have never needed to use it yet.

This is a real gem.

This simple to use monopod does exactly what you would wish it to do. I use it with my DSLR in the field and have already gained some excellent shots. It allows for a greater range of readings, in poor light etc, without camera shake and without having to lug my cumbersome tripod around with me. I have enough spare gear. It also fits nicely in the front of my camera bag for easy access. Maybe not the most spectacular piece of kit but you really can’t ask for more.

I spent a lot of time finding something small enough to carry everywhere, tall enough to use in comfort for long periods and strong enough to survive my handling. This was even better than I expected. I added a Manfrotto 234 head as I need to be able to pan the camera at speed and keep it lined up on fast moving wildlife. A number of monopods are stronger but are generally far bigger and heavier and I have seen no sign of it not coping with the weight of my cameras and lenses.

I bought this as a gift for my partner and I can’t stop using it myself. The twist to change the length and lock is very easy to operate (with no catches to lift and catch on other things). It is light-weight and collapses to a reasonable length. The padded grip is very tactile. Using a swivel tilt head was recommended to me, but so far the flexibility of use has been fine without using the (bulky, heavy) one I bought.

Whilst this will not replace a walking pole or a tripod, its light weight and compact size means that you can carry it with you with ease. even on some demanding hill walks.

It’s main advantage lies in the fact that it provides a stable platform for your camera once you are in position to take your photo’s.

I find that in 90% of usage, I do not need to fasten a head, and can use it with the camera directly attached. It’s lightness enables me to hold the pole perfectly stable. The only time that I have experienced problems, as been on soft boggy ground (however, even a tripod would give problems on this type of terrain).

One operating point to be aware of, is that whilst the twist lock /unlock action is very convienient, you have to ensure that you twist firmly to ensure a stable lock.

To sum up, excellent value for money, its compact size and light weight mean that you can carry it all day without knowing it is there and yet it’s flexibility (sitting or standing) mean that you can provide a stable platform for your camera in some fairly awkward locations.
