In the good old days when you purchased a top up it would last and this would be ideal for the occasional usage, covering normal broadband in the home etc. But recently Vodafone have changed the terms and conditions, meaning that any top up expires after 30 days. Thus you have to purchase a new top up every 30 days. This is very poor from Vodafone and means that it is hardly a pay as you go deal any longer – really it’s the same as a contract, having to pay again every month. So if you are thinking of purchasing one of these dongles beware of what you are letting yourself get into.

After some difficulty getting the Vodafone modem to connect (insufficient instructions, confusing software) this modem works fine, and the speed is acceptable.

This was bought as a stopgap until I get a new broadband contract, it would have been handy to keep it topped up for occasional use on the move, but as other reviewers have pointed out, it’s not really pay-as-you-go if you’ve got to top up every 30 days. If the time limit was 100 days like it is for other p-a-y-g devices then I’d have probably planned to stay on as an occasional Vodafone network user. But every 30 days? I think not.

So there’s one for the corporate greedheads – way to ensure you lose further custom!

Disappointed this dongle only works at home which is absolutely no use to me as I have excellent broadband coverage in my home. I bought this to use with my laptop on holiday and couldn’t get it to work even though there was a good signal strength.
