Having tried an Intuos3 (A4 size) and selling it nearly new on ebay I was reluctant to try a tablet again but prolonged use of Illustrator and Photoshop made me think again. So glad I did. The Intuos4 is incredible. (And I’m not normally moved to write reviews!) The beauty of the small version is that it can comfortably sit in front of a keyboard and the tablet area can be syncronised to the screen area – this makes for lightning fast, truly intuitive input.

I originally considered the medium version (but couldn’t push the budget) which has LCD icons for the programme keys but you really don’t need this extra as one touch of an express key and the settings appear on your screen. I have no intention of using a mouse again. (And should you find you can’t live without it – this version is very portable – fitting in a laptop case.)

My only gripe is that these tablets are so new – replacement/alternative pens are only available through the US website – can’t find UK stockists that sell them yet.

I’ve been doing digital art for some time now, and was the owner of Wacoms Bamboo fun. Here I was thinking that was incredible, then the Intuos 4 made its way into my life. I think the phrase ‘Once youve gone black, you cant go back’ applys in this situation. By far the best tablet I’ve ever used, easy to use, a nice size ande more than worth the money. The pen is a little heavier than the Bamboo Fun, but it balances out nicely. The tablet comes with two USB leads, a few extra nibs, one of them has a small spring it it, giving you further pressure sensitivty -which is fantastic even without the special nib- that can help for precision. There is also a precision mode, Six fully configurable buttons plus a wheel with another button in the center of it. The surface of the tablet replicates the feel of drawing on paper, and so far it doesnt wear away, unlike the Bamboo Fun. One bad thing, granted this might be a one off fault, is that the USB input is a little weak, it will occasionally cut the connection if moved. This isnt much of a problem but that might be something to look out for, However this is made up for by how fantastic this tablet is.

All in all, I would recommend this tablet to anyone without hesitation. The small one is just right, not too much space, not too little space, enough buttons and features for anyone, Newbies to Digital Art and Professional alike.

Thanks Wacom!

I had before Intuos3 A4 size, hard to work with, like the previous reviewer, but now buying the small size I find it easier to use it, and much comfortable than A4 size.

The size being smaller, I don’t need to move the pen in big gestures, which means I can use it for hours. Now I know that I could set up the working area, but then I was just wasting space, this one is just right, and I use it 6-7 hours a day, the settings I choose is even for a smaller area of the tablet despite 27″ iMac..

My only problem is when I use the clone stamp, is quiet hard to press exactly in the right spot, so I am using my mouse again, any advice???? please do.

A good choice finally, and I use it every day, worth every penny. By the way, you can buy a protective sheet from wacom website, just in case, you protect the tablet from scratches, mind you I am very careful with mine.

The expensive Intuos 4 graphics tablet from Wacom was delivered in good time and in good condition however after I installed it and installed photoshop CS5 I could not start photoshop CS5 (64bit). I unistalled the wacom tablet and CS5 (64bit) worked, I then attempted to re-install my Wacom tablet but it did not install properly. I am currently waiting to here from Wacom they are not quick to respond.
