It’s just the thing that Harry Potter could use while watching TV at Hogwarts – a wand that changes channels or turns down the volume at the flick of a wrist.
And this buttonless remote control certainly seems to have magic properties because it has just attracted the largest investment in the history of Dragons’ Den, BBC2’s entrepreneurial reality series.
Entrepreneurs Chris Barnardo and Richard Blakesley accepted a £200,000 offer from tough-talking Duncan Bannatyne for their Kymera Wand on the hit show. – Dail Mail
If you or your precious offspring are obsessed with a certain bespectacled boy wizard, you’ll no-doubt already have wands lying about the house. This one, however, is totally different to anything you will have waggled before – it can control the telly. In fact, it can control most things that require a remote control, making its wielder appear to be able to perform some pretty incredible leisure-orientated magic tricks, and you won’t even need to spout gibberish spells to do it.
After you’ve learnt the basics (it takes a few practice sweeps to get the hang of it), you’ll be able to programme your wand to control the volume, channel, brightness or whatever your remote can do. A turning motion (it’s all in the wrist) will control the volume, a sweep up or down will move the channel forward or back a step, and even double-tapping on the side will perform whatever you assign it. In all there are 13 different swooshes, sweeps and swoops to learn, and each one can be given a separate task to complete. All you have to do is put your wand into ‘learning mode’ by giving it a quick tap on the shaft, perform the move you want, and then press the corresponding key on your remote – the wand remembers it and performs it next time you do the same move.
It’s difficult to emphasise how much fun this is, and how cool the effect is when you’re merrily commanding all and sundry around you. The Hi-Fi, the TV, the computer, the lights (if you’re fancy enough to have remote control lights), anything that needs flicking on or off in the room can be controlled by a wave of your wand. Indeed, if you’re even slightly interested in anything vaguely wizard-related then you owe it to yourself to get one of these – great fun, ingenious technology and an impressive effect. Top it off with a beautiful faux-dragonskin box with Chinese silk inlay and you’ve got a superb little package, perfect for the wannabe wizard in your life.
Features:
- The Wand Remote Control allows you to control remote devices with a swish.
- Most devices that use a remote control can be manipulated with the wand – TVs, Hi-Fis etc.
- Can control multiple devices, not limited to one.
- 13 commands in total can be learned by the Wand.
- Programme the wand by putting it in learning mode, performing an action and pressing the corresponding key on the remote control.
- Learns via infrared codes from remote control.
- Comes packaged in its own beautifully decorated case.
- Please note: instructions for the wand are only available in English.

There’s nothing quite as poor as a bad hand in cards. Not only does a bad hand get you off on the wrong foot, so to speak, but it can completely ruin your day if you’ve foolishly bet your house/caravan/camel/wife on it. Now, you can, with a touch of sly and cunning, turn every hand into a devastating weapon against your foes and reveal astonishing mind powers by not only predicting their hands, but knowing when to fold and when to stay the course. This otherwise standard-issue set of casino quality plastic coated playing cards masks a deep and dangerous secret. They’re highly durable, giving them a lifetime of potential for scurrilous double-dealing. Subtle markings on each card show their suit and number using a technique known only to you, enabling you to stay in complete control and demonstrate awe-inspiring mastery of the deck, the whole table, and the entire gaming universe. Clearly, there are limitations and even we feel it would be foolish to take things too far. Like taking your chums’ money. But if they’re game for a laugh and know just how bad you really are at cards, we dare you to keep a straight face as you systematically take them to the cleaners.

Amazon.co.uk Review
This unclassifiable but stunningly original film obliterates the walls between teen comedy, science fiction, family drama, horror, and cultural satire–and remains wildly entertaining throughout. Jake Gyllenhaal (October Sky) stars as Donnie, a borderline-schizophrenic adolescent for whom there is no difference between the signs and wonders of reality (a plane crash that decimates his house) and hallucination (a man-sized, reptilian rabbit who talks to him). Obsessed with the science of time travel and acutely aware of the world around him, Donnie is isolated by his powers of analysis and the apocalyptic visions that no one else seems to share. The debut feature of writer-director Richard Kelly, Donnie Darko is a shattering, hypnotic work that sets its own terms and gambles–rightfully so, as it turns out–that a viewer will stay aboard for the full ride. –Tom Keogh

Amazon.co.uk Review
It’s sick! It’s twisted! It’s House of 1,000 Corpses, and it’s more fun than a wholesome bowl of “Agatha Crispies”! Dropped by two studios (Universal and MGM) and doomed to obscurity until Lions Gate Films gave it a limited theatrical release, Rob Zombie’s gonzo horror flick is a blood-spattered throwback to the gore-fests of the 70s, lending new meaning to the term “box-office gross”. Most critics misunderstood this unbridled exercise in graphic style and violence, but for devoted horror buffs it’s a refreshing rebuttal to the comparatively “polite” frights of the post-Scream era. While paying homage to The Texas Chainsaw Massacre, Last House on the Left, Motel Hell and other gory classics, Zombie’s ramshackle plot (two young couples are terrorized by an inbred family of homicidal maniacs) lacks a crucial sense of dread, but his pastiche of vivid colours, grainy fetish-films and photo-negative imagery is guaranteed to hold your attention. A bona-fide cult item, this House is definitely worth a visit… if you dare. –Jeff Shannon
