I bought this device to aid practice as it’s very difficult to judge the overall sound of a duet when you’re actually playing one of the parts. I was not disappointed.

This is an excellent recorder providing a superb stereo image. Extremely good recording quality and it works straight out of the box, just load two batteries and away you go.

Very importantly, and unlike MP3 recorders I’ve tried, the H2 accurately captures the attack of “difficult” instruments like concertinas beautifully and it works equally well with percussion.

The box includes a memory card, headphones, USB lead, stereo jack to phono lead, desk stand, windshield, and a little pouch to keep the recorder in. Basically it has everything you need to start making useful recordings.

If you’re looking for a good general purpose semi-professional recorder I’d recommend this one.

Excellent little device and very easy to use. The insructions are well written and within a few hours of use you can pretty much understand all of the basic recording functions and have the device connected to a computer to download your first files.

I’m using the recorder to keep a record of rehearsals with a variety of bands from guitar duo to a full 5 piece. The quality is always good with almost no messing around. It doesn’t seem possible to make a bad recording.

Recording your rehearsals and performances is the best way to appraise your progress as a muscian. Don’t delay and buy one today!

This little recorder is fantastic. A gizmo geek pal recommended it to us as we are not electronically minded in the slightest. We have a child in a cathedral choir and wanted to discreetly record certain services. This works from inside a handbag, inside a jacket pocket (if you don’t move about too much) and from inside a digital camera case – my prefered method – with the top just protruding. It is simple to operate and gives excellent results. Downloading is straightforward and with a programme such as Audacity which can be downloaded free from the web, it is all you need. It isn’t really worth upgrading to the H4 as it is only better if you are in very controlled recording siruations. For Press and Go the H2 is perfect

The recording quality of the ZOOM H2 is excellent … and it has no moving parts, hence no noise. The limiter wroks very well and there is a host of other professional facilities.

The only criticism is that, becasue it is a FAT 32 filing system, it does not record files that are larger than ca. 2 GB, even if the SD card is larger. This in itself is not particularly problematic, except for the fact that the operating system of the ZOOM does not have a mechanism for stopping the recording once this limit has been reached. As a result, the file content will be lost and it micht be necessary to reformat the SD card in order to recover the memory used in the recording. Nevertheless, if one is careful, this can be avoided.

I bought this recorder as a gift for my husband who is a sound engineer/music producer (i.e. has far better trained ears than I have!) and he has been really impressed with it. The sound quality is excellent and it is easy to use, also lightweight and fairly easy to carry around. Worth spending the small amount extra to get the case and mini tripod stand for it in my opinion.
